I've followed the Marvel Studios movies enthusiastically since the first Iron Man, I've seen almost all of them in the cinema and bought them all on DVD except GotG 2. And after ten years, it's dawned on me that none of them are that great, really. They're like candy - fun and hard to resist, but completely forgettable when they're gone. It's become a production line. Captain Marvel is just another example of the Marvel Studios blueprint - numbing amounts of action, plenty of comedy, lack of real drama, and could have been directed by anyone.

That's a good idea, pinkfloydsound17! How do these movies endure the test of time? Top tier, would watch multiple times:
Thor: the dark world Iron Man (first two acts) Avengers: Infinity War (new addition) Winter Soldier Captain America: Civil War Thor (Up one category) All right, might see again:
Guardians of the galaxy (down one category) Ant-Man (down one category) Black Panther (new addition) Avengers (down one category) Ant-Man & the Wasp (new addition) Thor : Ragnarok (new addition) Fine, but I'm good now. Guardians of the galaxy, volume 2 (down one category) Age of Ultron (down one category) Captain America: the first avenger (down one category) Doctor Strange Iron Man 2 Iron Man 3 Incredible Hulk Would probably not watch again: Hulk (down one category) Haven’t seen:Spider-Man: homecoming Captain Marvel For some of these, the dilution effect has had a detrimental effect. To wit, Avengers was once a film I would watch again and again for the interplay between the characters and some "WOAH!" moments like seeing an actual helicarrier or seeing Thor create a shockwave by hitting the ground, but we've seen all of that in many other movies now. For some others, there's a saturation effect to consider. I've watched Guardians of the galaxy many, many times...

I have four basic categories according to whether I'd buy it on Blu-ray (the cream of the crop), maybe watch it again some day (the middle pack), not bother thinking about again (the duds) or seek therapy to get over the trauma of seeing once (the atrocities). (Oh, and I haven't seen Captain Marvel yet.)
Cream of the Crop: Thor: Ragnarok Captain America: First Avenger Guardians of the Galaxy
Middle Pack: The Avengers Captain America: The Winter Soldier Avengers: Age of Ultron Ant-Man Captain America: Civil War Black Panther (I could easily see a stand-alone Shuri movie making my "cream of the crop") Ant-Man and the Wasp (better than the first Ant-Man movie) Spider-Man: Homecoming (Tom Holland is a terrific Peter Parker)
Duds: Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr. makes this character, of course but I find all of the Iron Man movies fairly forgettable) Iron Man 2 Iron Man 3 Avengers: Infinity War Doctor Strange Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Thor Thor: The Dark World
The Atrocities: The Incredible Hulk (Not a good film any way you slice it but it's all the worse for featuring two actors whom I can't stand - Ed Norton and Tim Roth.)
