On what other occasions has it appeared? Surely it's been in actual JLA comics at some point, though I'm not enough of a fan to know. It appeared in Justice League of America when Brad Meltzer was writing it. From issue #7 (May 2007) - (Click here for a larger version) ...it's the Cincinatti Museum Center... Cincinnati. Which, if I'm not mistaken, was originally a railway terminal. It's an iconic piece of art deco architecture. It was originally Union Terminal, a train station in Cincinnati. Here's a photo with trains around - (Click here for a larger image) WHEN THE SUPER Friends of the classic 1970s cartoon series gather at the Hall of Justice, Cincinnatians find it eerily familiar—after all, the hideout drew inspiration from the Queen City's Union Terminal...
While locals had suspected the comic-book connection for decades, the Cincinnati Enquirer confirmed in 2009 that Hanna-Barbera background supervisor Al Gmuer had been inspired by Union Terminal when he worked on what would become the Justice League’s HQ. (Hanna-Barbera was owned by Cincinnati’s Taft Broadcasting from the late 1960s to the ‘80s.)- Source: WiredOne of the neat things about Union Terminal was the Whispering Fountains - If you and a friend stand at the drinking fountains on opposite ends of the Union Terminal rotunda, it is possible to have a conversation from 180 feet apart by speaking into the wall. The acoustics of the dome are such that your voices will bounce up into the arch and then back down on the other side. The Museum Center calls this the Whispering Fountains, but it works best if you speak loudly. Background noise can be a problem, so try to avoid weekend mornings when preschoolers are out in force. And ignore any odd looks from ignorant folks who think you’re talking to the water fountain. - Source: Cincinnati Magazine I don't know if the Fountains are still there. I haven't been in the place since... the 80s? Early 90s? Whatever, it was long before they renamed it. So, yeah, the Super Friends operated out of Cincinnati, Ohio. It's ok, y'all can be jealous.

They definitely used the Legion of Doom HQ in continuity too... I think during the Morrison run?

The Legion of Doom headquarters looked a lot like Darth Vader's helmet. I assume it debuted in or after 1977?

The Legion of Doom headquarters looked a lot like Darth Vader's helmet. I assume it debuted in or after 1977? Star Wars was referenced on several occasions, in various Super Friends shows. The second series, The All-New Super Friends, had a couple. One was a segment where an alien flees a world with an armored tyrant and his armored soldiers (in an aquatic society, so Aquaman can be involved). The villain's armor looks rather reminiscent of Darth Vader, while his men are pseudo stormtroopers. In another episode, Hawkman and Hawkgirl are on an alien desert planet, where we see people who look almost exactly like the jawas. That was right after the movie was a hit. Later shows had space battles that referenced it (bloodlessly) and other elements, here and there. They weren't alone. Filmation's Young Sentinels show (a pseudo- Green Lantern Corps, which itself was an ersatz Lensmen) was rechristened The Space Sentinels, after Star Wars became a hit. Filmation also had a live action show, called Space Academy, which was a pseudo-Star Trek; but, quickly launched the serial, Jason of Star Command, which was pure Star Wars (by way of Flash Gordon).

I specifically remember the episode "Demons of Exxor" where the villain was "Lord Darkon". He and his army resembled stormtroopers, and perhaps had elements of Darth Vader as well.

"The Lord of Middle Earth". The villain was Mal Havok. I also remember a few people online calling that season (World's Greatest Super Friends) as the "absent Super Friends" season, as there were episodes that had heroes not part of the main story.
