I don't know if you guys do YouTube reaction channels at all, and I normally don't, but I am a huge fan of Lost in Vegas. Two probably mid-thirties ish hip hop fans from Vegas with open minds who try to take on all kinds of genres. They are doing an Alice in Chains marathon and coming off a Black Sabbath marathon. They are amazing. Strongly recommend. It's like hearing your stuff for the first time seeing someone else appreciate your favorite stuff. Reactions videos aren't usually my thing, but I remember a random video showing up in my feed of two black guys reacting to NIN's Closer. And just like me, (my wife introduced the song to me after we got married) the beat of the song is what hooked them. Love the intro to that song. But it was also cool that they got that there was more meaning to the song than just the controversial chorus. They were also aghast at the video too, just like I was lol. I will pass your suggestion of that youtube channel to my wife though. She watches a lot of reaction videos.

I cannot recommend their channel enough even to people who do not normally get into reaction videos (like me).

I've never heard of "reaction videos" before. Ah, it's basically watching a fish out of water experience for entertainment. Take someone who is not familiar with something or does not have the usual context and see how they respond. Some of the original popular ones were stuff like "Kids react to The Beatles" or something to see how a kid today would react to these songs that were 50 years old before they were even born. There's a glut out there now, and I don't care for most of them. This particular one, Lost in Vegas, is two open-minded dudes who come from a more hip hop background but have a genuine interest in music and explore other genres and try to stretch themselves. They have a charisma about them and have found a lot of fans in the rock and metal community and have enjoyed a lot of that, but that is not all they do.

I don't understand the appeal of reaction videos at all. Especially when it's some numb nuts nobody reacting to something. Why the hell would anybody waste their time watching that?! When it comes to art, film and music, the only numb nut nobody's reaction I'm interested in is mine.

Bought Super Trouper on cassette the other day at work as a "why the hell not?" purchase. Was never really big into Abba, that was more of my mom's thing. We do share a mutual love of other music though

When it comes to art, film and music, the only numb nut nobody's reaction I'm interested in is mine. I don't usually enjoy them and rarely watch them, but while I was sheltering in place I came across a reaction video of a young Scandinavian woman who was a classically trained professional flutist discovering and reacting to Ian Anderson playing flute from some live concerts from Tull's heyday in the early-mid-70s, and her reactions were just absolutely genuine, adorable and amusing, a mixture of horror at some of his self-taught techniques and adaptations because of a pinky injury he suffered as a youth, and being absolutely mind-blown at and impressed with the effects and sounds he achieved while playing. She then went on to demonstrate what some of the proper techniques were and tried to emulate some of the effects/sounds Anderson produced while playing and singing kind of reverse engineering his techniques that varied from the classical techniques. So in addition to the reactions, I also learned a lot about flute technique (and I am a junkie for any kind of behind the curtain stuff on creative processes whether its art, music, writing, acting, film-making or whatever). So I will throw out that Sturgeon's law probably applies here too, The vast overwhelming mass of these are mostly junk, but there's a handful of them out there that offer a little more. -M
