Watched the Austin City Limits appearance of the Foo Fighters with special guests Gary Clark Jr and Jimmy Vaughan from last night this morning. They did a few tunes off Sonic Highways and a bunch of older stuff, and a rocking cover of the Fabulous T-bird Tuff Enuff with GC Jr. and Jimmy Vaughan. I've been digging a lot of Foo stuff since I watched the Sonic Highways series on HBO and exploring a lot of the artists I was introduced to there. Other stuff that got a recent spin-Johnny Cash's Live form Folsom Prison and American IV, V and VI, a couple of Buddy Guy's recent releases, the New Basement Tapes (a jam band featuring guys like Marcus Mumford writing and recording songs based on unused Dylan lyrics), some Trombone Shorty stuff, some Stanley Clarke, Blues America by Keb 'Mo, Cry of Love the posthumous Hendrix lp he was recording when he OD'd, Strut-Lenny Kravitz's most recent effort, a JJ Cale appreciation featuring Clapton and Cale, a Buddy Guy/Junior Wells collaboration nd some Bn Harper and Gary Clark Jr. stuff.

I had nothing but rap on my iPod, but I got tired of that and filled it with some R&B and classic soul/Motown stuff. And now I'm so sick of it already. I remember when I had a 6 cd changer in my Cadillac and I kept the same 6 CD's in it the entire time I owned it, around 7 years.
But at that point I also decided to just leave them in the car when I sold it too.

Nancy Sinatra - These Boots Are Made for Walkin' (1966)
I heard this song many times in my days as a youth due to the part that I have two older brothers that loved music. I was 7 years old when this song came out and once in a great while I like to listen to it every month or so on You Tube.

Listening to Living Colour live at CBGB circa 1989-the CD version including this cover of the Bad Brains classic Sailing On
I discovered Bad Brains while watching the Foo Fighters Sonic Highways doc on HBO and then remembered this on the live disc and have been grooving to it a lot lately....
