Beautiful. Despite my criticism of Kirby's post-60s Marvel work, this 1968 cover has always been my favorite Kirby/Giacoia cover, and IMO, the best Captain America cover ever published. Everything great about the character's adventures/trials can be found on this cover. Thanks. And you know he just sat down and drew it without a layout. From his mond to his hand. |

Gene Colan...love the simplicity. So true. There's a world of feeling all its own on the cover, which was not always easy to achieve in a genre where the expected emotional beats were the order of the day for covers. |
