I use an adblocker and never see the ads, unless I pull up Youtube on the tv. Pretty much cuts out everything.

I totally accept the ads on YouTube as something that is a necessary part of having the service be free, but it doesn't mean I have to like them. Understanding why something exists and being happy about it don't always go hand in hand.
On my PC I use an ad blocker which means I never have to watch the adverts. But it's a different story if I'm watching on my phone or on TV.
I assume we all remember way back in the mid-2000s when YouTube had no adverts before the videos? All advertising was on the site itself, at the sides of the screen. I miss those days.

Understanding why something exists and being happy about it don't always go hand in hand. True, but it seems a little light complaining - with an attempt at humour via a Superman/Dr Manhattan picture - is frowned upon, so I guess we are expected to never complain about anything. I just hope those who don’t agree with such complaints never complain about anything small again. Sometimes, you just want to offload about a small issue in an emotive way. I don’t care about YouTube’s ad policy, who their advertisers are, etc. Doesn’t mean I deny facts. But ads in the middle of a song - for bookmakers or Hello Fresh - are frustrating. If we go by the logic that nobody should complain about small things because of bad things happening in the world, we’d never complain about anything. If I share a comicbook panel to humorously highlight a frustration, here’s where I stand: I’m not interested in a discourse. I’m not asking for one. If I was to share a meme or thought about variant covers or the price of comics, and my post is meant emotively, I am not after a discourse on business reality, etc. Me being “Superman” and the ads being “Doctor Manhattan” were never intended to be a discourse on a boring topic like YouTube ads. Surely one doesn’t have to spell out humour? That is all I’ll ever post on the subject now.

I get complaining about things you can't fix. Ads on youtube is not unfixable, you can easily fix it by paying the money each month to get rid of the ads. If you choose not to pay, that's on you, not them, so accept the consequences of your own actions. There are enough things we can't fix to complain about, but when you create your own problem and then complain about it, I have zero patience for it. It's not light playful venting when you create your own problem, it borders on drama queen behavior. It's like the boy crying wolf.

I'm British! Complaining about stuff is something I'm both extremely good at and very well practiced at. Moaning about everything is my national birthright!

Just saw that the documentary Dave Stevens: Drawn to Perfection is free to watch on Amazon Prime. Won't get a chance to watch it until tomorrow, but I know some here might be interested in it as well. Here's the trailer... -M I know you're not currently on the forum, but thanks for the heads-up on this. Just got through watching it, and it was great, with some really touching interviews with friends and colleagues.

Wow! I'm trying to stay away from big, expensive "looking at" books (as opposed to "reading" books) but this is really tempting.

Wow! I'm trying to stay away from big, expensive "looking at" books (as opposed to "reading" books) but this is really tempting. Yeah...tough call. $75 bones is a lot. And this is the type of book that will have a very low print run and you're unlikely to find discounted after the fact.

This may interest some of the teachers in our group (as well as others)... In the weekly Cover Contest kirby101 commented on the entry from tarkintino ... FOOM #16 (December, 1976). Cover by Marie Severin. This was a wrap around cover of an office larger and with more people than Marvel ever had. I can identify a few, like Stan and Romita and Kane in the office below him. And of course Marie with the brush. But I would love a guide to all the players.
It just so happens I'm working on some faculty events around AI for the Fall and was playing around in ChatGPT, so I tried to see if I could get an answer.
Here's how it went... So, take from that what you will.
