I owned a copy of Fantastic Four #5 and traded it away for pennies on the dollar for some hot new book I had to have. I knew better, too, but I couldn't escape the compulsion. I... learned a valuable lesson.

Around '89, my friend, who was a big Avengers fan, was getting married and I tracked down an original page for Avengers #1 for $500. So I got on the phone with other people in the wedding party to put together the money to buy it and get it framed.
The day I called everyone to confirm, various wives and girlfriends convinced the other ushers that it was really just "a gift for him," not "them" and they pulled out.
In retrospect, I feel it probably would've appreciated in value more than the footed cake dish I ended up getting.

I just picked up my weekly comic from my LCS and the guy behind the counter told me he brought 3 copies of Batman Damned. I was told it goes for a cool 100 as of today.

My guess is that it will be a short lived inflation like Superman #75 or the Comic Dc released that had superbaby crawling into a microwave.

Was going to save this for my Comic Memories thread, but here's the gist. A buddy and I saw the comic below (Single Series #20, 1940) in the window of a ramshackle antiques/ junk shop when we were maybe 12 or 13. We asked the lady how much she wanted for it and she told us. We flipped a coin for it and he won. Cost him the quarter we flipped for it.  |

Tales to Astonish #13 and Marvel Preview #7. I spent too much time being a cheapskate bargin hunter for the last 7-8 years and now thanks to the MCU they’ll never be affordable. And I don’t even want the Marvel Preview book for the reason it’s so overpriced now.
