Transcendental Mental everything about that cover is great, composition, drawing, dramatic effect...

Jesse gets my vote this week. I've always been both creeped out and fascinated by depictions of endless tunnels and bottomless pits.

I gotta say, I never think of Heath as a cover artist (and TBH have a hard time recognizing his cover work), but, wow, this week was an eye-opener.

This week's contest had a murderer's row of great covers. I could've picked any of em.

Another week that makes me favor even more specific topics. This could have been three weeks' worth: Heath's DC war comics; Heath's Atlas war comics; Heath's Western comics, etcetera, etcetera. MDG's was one I saw for the first time when I was scouting for covers, and I was tempted to use it myself. Looked like a polished version of a Norm Saunders Mars Attacks card in its violent intensity. Kirby beat me to one I thought I might use... again, the composition, the eye for detail and the drama are pure Heath. As is so often the case, not a clunker in the bunch. But this week, they are all A-level covers. But, there probably is no better epitome of Heath's art than Transcendental Mental's, which as Kirby said, is a masterpiece of illustration.
