Fascinating to know! I love Disney comics, but I've only ever experienced those that have been translated into English, so it all seems like a continuity jumble to me. My favorite Disney creator is Casty, but the vast majority of his work has never been translated into English. German translations of Disney comics are very interesting, as the language used there has influenced even the day-to-day language (Mickey Mouse magazine sells a lot each week!). They are also more "free" and more "literary" as they also often quote or make references to famous works like Schiller, Goethe... Mickey Ubermouse, contemplating the ideals of Nietzche!

Fun fact: the majority of Disney comics in the world are produced in Italy!

If I could only have one Batman universe, it would be the one where Robin could be hit in the head by a steam shovel and then pretend to be unconscious.
What I’m saying is that Detective Comics #224 would have to be canon.

Fun fact: the majority of Disney comics in the world are produced in Italy! I would not be shocked to learn that the lack of continuity concerns is a primary reason why comics are more popular in overseas markets than in the U.S.

I hope you'd be open to including Bat-Baby. The Joker is currently pregnant with it. When it’s born, I’ll bet it has the Joker’s face.

The Joker is currently pregnant with it. When it’s born, I’ll bet it has the Joker’s face. So, it's going to be a fish?

Batman #416 (February 1988) "White Gold and Truth" Script: Jim Starlin Pencils: Jim Aparo Inks: Mike DeCarlo Colors: Adrienne Roy Letters: Agustin Más Grade: B If you ever needed a clearer indication of just how disorganized the Post-Crisis DC universe was, consider the fact that we first got Nightwing's Post-Crisis origin in History of the DC Universe #2 (February 1987) and, exactly one year later, we've now received four more tellings of Nightwing's origin that all contradict each other in one way or another. This telling will end up being what's followed (for a while, at least), and I suspect that's because a story published in the Batman title was going to reach far more readers than in History of the DC Universe, Secret Origins, or Teen Titans Spotlight. First off, whereas Batman has been a pretty balanced character in his Post-Crisis appearances in his own titles up to this point, we're suddenly going full-on Batjerk for no appararent reason: That's definitely not how it went in Batman #408: And this little exchange: throws both Secret Origins #13 (they didn't part on good terms, Dick didn't know Jason became Robin) and Teen Titans Spotlight #14 (they haven't talked in 18 months) right out the window. Not enough contradictions for you? Dick now joins the original Teen Titans after being expelled from college: So much for History of the DC Universe #2Oh, and Dick joined the New Teen Titans as Nightwing now: which contradicts pretty much everything. (And, of course, absolutely no mention of Batgirl nor their team-ups, not that she would be relevant to Dick's discussion with Bruce about their shared history anyway) But, beyond all this, the true purpose of this story is to set up a contrast: Batman is now a moody loner, but he is supported by a small family that accepts his flaws and is there for him all the same. It also allows Dick to be a second influence on Jason, tempering Bruce's severity and darkness so that Jason does not become like him (not that this ended up working). Once you get past the excessive moodiness, it's really a pretty heart-warming story in which Dick finally gets to pass the mantle on in his own way: I guess that's his teen costume, whereas Bruce gave Jason the adolescent one?and are reminded (in case absolutely everyone missed it in the easily overlooked Teen Titans Spotlight #14) that, beneath the rough exterior, Batman has a heart after all, and it's his family that fuels it: For a short moment, this is our Post-Crisis Batman Family, and it's kind of beautiful. Of course, we're roughly a year away from one of these three smiling figures being blown to smithereens and a fourth ancillary member taking a bullet to the spine. I intend to explore those moments and how the Post-Crisis Batman family bounces back from them before finally bringing this review thread to a close. Important Details:1. Dick was Robin from age 11-17 2. Dick went to college at 17, was expelled, and then joined the original Teen Titans. 3. Sometime after, Dick became Nightwing and joined the New Teen Titans.

Okay, here we go... The PrePost-Crisis Dick Grayson Timelinepainfully extrapolated from all time references made in regard to Dick and the Titans between 1964 and February 1984 and revised as of Batman #416 (February 1988)
Age 8: Becomes Robin (as per New Teen Titans #37) age 11 nowAge 11 or 12: meets Wonder Girl for the first time (this issue indicates that almost eight years have passed between this moment and NTT #38, where they are almost certainly both at the very tail-end of their teens) we do not yet know if this is still true Post-CrisisAge 12 or 13: forms the Teen Titans Nope. He now joined it at age 17 after getting expelled from college for low gradesSometime between Age 13 and 16 (likely Age 15): The original Teen Titans disband ( Teen Titans #44 establishes that two years pass before the team reunites) We have no clear indication of when the original team disbanded, though it is depicted in Secret Origins #13, and my own math suggests Dick was 17 or 18 at the time.Shortly thereafter (likely age 15 or 16): Dick leaves Gotham to attend Hudson University. It's odd that Dick's age discrepancy in contrast to other students on campus never ever gets mentioned, but it's also the only way this timetable works, and he presumably would have been smart enough to graduate high school a few years early. Dick goes to an unnamed college for one semester at age 17 after Batman "fires" RobinSometime between Ages 15 and 18 (likely Age 17): The original Teen Titans reform. They then have at least eight adventures together before disbanding, and months go by before The New Teen Titans form (according to The New Teen Titans Insert Preview in DC Comics Presents #26) Nope. Since Dick joined the original Teen Titans at 17, there isn't enough time for a second Teen Titans team to have formed prior to The New Teen TitansSometime between Ages 15 and 18 (likely Age 18): Dick drops out of Hudson University and The New Teen Titans are formed. Dick seems to be at least 18 in those first stories, and they've now had over 40 adventures together, so it's unlikely he was 19 at the time. Additionally, Donna has always been presented as being about the same age, and she was living independently in those first issues and is now engaged to be married, also suggesting a minimum of 18-19 years of age. This would now have to occur at age 18 or older since he was 17 when he went to college for a semester and then went on to join the original Teen Titans. He also now becomes Nightwing before joining the new team.Age 18 or 19: Dick passes on the Robin costume to Jason Todd and becomes Nightwing shortly after. Bruce gave Jason the costume and didn't even tell Dick. Dick had already become Nightwing and later gives Jason his teen Robin costume as a way of passing the torch after the fact. Dick is 19 at this point (eighteen months since he was fired from being Robin at age 17)
The real problem with this revised timeline is that Dick somehow went to college for a semester, joined the original Teen Titans, had that group disband, became Nightwing, and then joined the New Teen Titans, all in the span of about a year. That gives him roughly a year's worth of experiences with the New Teen Titans between the age of 18 and his present age of 19. Yeesh. Did Terra even happen in the Post-Crisis, because she should have been around for roughly a year before dying, right?
