Talk about weird, they tried to turn Dr. Strange into a masked super-hero. Is it bad that I actually liked the look of it?!

This is a brilliant Brian Bolland cover that deserves to be better known. However, it is from the second-to-last issue of the original Superman series, when interest in the title was waning. And, of course, the issue following this one is the legendary "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?". Neat cover. I fee like there is just so much detail in the face and hands but the body seems very plain. I think it would have been a stronger cover with some tears in the costumer, personally.

Well, in those days the costume was indestructible...

It's just weird that he was well known, people even knew his address, so put on a mask an "Who is Dr. Strange?"
The put him back to the old Dr. soon after.

Back in the early 80s, when the kid down the street offered to sell me his collection of failed presidential candidate comics because his mom was making him throw them out, I declined to purchase them for the paltry sum of $8. Even though I knew his collection included the rare Whitman 3-packs containing variant covers with the topless issues (and the one of Walter Mondale holding a RUN-DMC record - I was tempted) sandwiched between the other two comics. Instead, I spent my money on video games and snacks, too short-sighted to realize this day would come in my lifetime. I was a fool. A FOOL! So anyway... The thread title says "transformations", as in plural... count on the Flash to deliver multiple transformations in one cover. Oh, and I'm sure Firestorm transformed a lot of things in the backup story. It was kind of his jam.
