In my latest YouTube video, I go through the first appearance of Granny Gumshoe in National Comics #57 and breakdown my creative process to show how I was inspired by elements of this story to update her in specific ways when I redesigned the character for a modern audience. I thought some of you might find it interesting:

As I mentioned on your youtube page, I still say Splinters has an uncanny resemblance to Guy Gardner (or maybe it's vice versa).
Love these behind the curtain glimpses at people's creative process.

I'm working on putting the lettercolumn together for issue #2, so if anybody has any letters they want to submit for issue #2, there's plenty of space! I could use some letters!

A+! Hows that for a letter? Lots of kudos for your accomplishing and fulfilling your dream good sir! I think we all grew up with aspirations of being a comic book creator in our formative youth when discovering them. Little did we know the intricacies and difficulties achieving such a goal might be. You deserve a full round of applause and accolades along with the riches (hopefully plenty of monetary in there as well) of your achievement. Time to quit the regular job and HURRY UP and start going monthly already. 🤪😁
Your dedication and love of comics shines brightly of what I have seen. Once I have gotten past the orientation and training of my new job and settled in with the hope of going from a 6 month contract to permanent position, my reward will be buying into your personal dream of self publishing a comic book! Can't think of a sweeter way to celebrate for both of us.
When do you start prepping for those lucrative animated holiday television specials? I would love to see the Crimebuster's in their Halloween, Easter, Valentine's and St Patrick's day shows. You can build up to that big shmaltzy Christmas extravaganza pay off.

Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it! No TV deal just yet, but the issues have had a bit of a holiday feel to them. Issue #2 is a Halloween story, issue #3 takes place around Thanksgiving (though in this case it doesn't really affect the story), and issue #4 is going to be a Christmas story. Issue #6 will be very loosely themed around Presidents Day. So there's that!

I'm going to double post this, but the Kickstarter for issue #3 of The Crimebusters is now live: I also wanted to share with you the Boy Comics variant cover for this issue. This time a friend of mine named Marc Svensson drew it, he's a collector of Lev Gleason books with a much more impressive collection than me, and he's also an artist - he displayed some of his Golden Age homage covers at SDCC way back in the 90's.

I'm sorry Scott, but I'm going to have to hope I can catch up on Crimebusters at some point in the future, but maybe I'll even be able to get #3 & 4 together then! That's often what I've done with UK publications... so make it to #4, please.

I've started working on issue #4. Here's the cover - I'll probably tweak some elements of this over the next few months, might remove the lens flare for instance, but for now, this is what I'm going with:

Hard to explain it, but it looks too digital somehow. Maybe it needs a few more color gradients to suggest shadow/lighting?

Krampus is too Grinchy green! And "happy" with his holiday toy.

(I just discovered that Affinity Photo does that in a much more intuitive manner than Photoshop. You shall rue the day you pushed me away, Adobe!!!)
