I'd go with the original as well.. while the Timm version is good.. he struggled with the same thing many Superman writers do... how strong is he? HE got tossed around far too much in that show (for drama, one assumes) before suddenly being able to easily be victorious with no apparent change in situation. I know it's comic books, but it annoyed me enough times for it to drop to 2nd.
