Completely disagree. Dick Dillin's work on JLA is a masterclass on panel economy and experimental page composition; a stunning evolution from the segmented train-car panel progression of Mike Sekowsky's early issues.

While they often showed us heroes interact with their doubles, I believe the two Batman didn't even talk each other. Why he should feel something particular? It's like a close parents of mines who I have never met dies. Yes, I could feel vaguely sorry, but nothing else. No, I'll vouch for Batman here. I was really sad when my alternate universe duplicate got killed by the Silver Lamprey. This whole exchange reminds me of comedian Mike Berbiglia who was riffing about people who criticize acting in movies... (Paraphrasing) "I've never had my entire family murdered by a vicious drug cartel in cold blood, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't yell THAT loudly..."

I don't think I'd read enough of those to have a super strong opinion, but I definitely agree Mike Sekowsky is extremely meh. Welcome to the forum!

Some of his work for Tower Comics was really dynamic. He was great at giving characters their own "faces", and not relying on the same old stock go-to faces.

I'd have to give the edge to Sekowsky over Dillin, too, and I was a faithful reader from JLA 31 through 200.

An intervention has been planned, but I have resisted them before. I think the series premieres on MTV in September. If it helps at all, I do like Dick Dillin on the Blackhawks. He just can't draw superheroes. Plus he never had an inker on JLA who complemented his pencils the way Cuidera did on Blackhawk. I'll overlook all of this; you were too young to know better.

I think Sekowsky's main goal is to clearly show what's going on, without trying too hard to make it "pretty." And that could be damn difficult in some of those early JLAs where the setups are convoluted (if not ridiculous). But he takes the same approach in romance books, showing the characters and expressions without worrying about realism. He's closer to Ditko than Swan.

Always stiff and angular. And, yes, they didn't wear their outfits well. Sid Greene softened and added depth to Dillin's pencils, but McLaughlin, Chiaramonte and even Giordano just made it worse.

Personally, I liked his Diana Prince, Wonder Woman, as well as the Thunder Squad, un THUNDER Agents. Not as wild on his JLA, though it depends on the story.
I grew up with Dillin and always enjoyed his work. Blackhawk is better; but, his JLA was my JLA and I loved that comic, as a kid. Everyone was distinctive, he could draw them in any situation and he complimented the stories well.
