Although Marvel's 3 cartoons in the 1970s curiously matched its cartoon adaptation output in the previous decade with The Marvel Superheroes, The Fantastic Four & Spider-Man (with the 60s cartoons being far closer to the source material than anything on that 70s list), Yep! You're totally right! The leitmotif of the 70s' cartoon was the dumbing down of the original material.

Superman is Chuck Woolery, future host of the original Wheel of Fortune (daytime) and Love Connection. Yeah, that was always strange, since no one would have expected Superman to be in his past as a performer. Before his run on the soap opera, he was a guest star on the Bixby/Ferrigno The Incredible Hulk in an episode serving as a backdoor pilot: "The Disciple" (which in turn, was a sequel to another episode titled "Another Path") as a martial artist-mystic / part of a police family who ends up fighting crime. From what I've read of the other pitch ideas, it read as if the concept--if it was greenlit as a series--would have played like the TV series Kung-Fu, only set in contemporary times.

I LOVED Star Blazers! It was my favorite cartoon back in the day, and having seen season 1 again a few years ago, it holds up pretty well. You should try to watch Star Blazers 2199. It's absolutely one of the BEST remakes out there! Thanks. I'll check it out.

Bob Dorough wrote and sang many of the early songs, with Jack Sheldon doing many others (such as "I'm Just A Bill"). Lynne Ahern was a secretary in the copy department, who played music on the side and used to bring in her guitar, to play during her lunch hour. She was encouraged to try her hand at it and composed "A Noun Is A Person, Place or Thing." Blossom Dearie was the wistful singer of "Figure Four," and "Unpack Your Adjectives." Close. Blossom Dearie sang "Figure Eight." Bob Dorough sang "Four Legged Zoo."

Sorry; had wrestling on the brain, though Blossom singing about Ric Flair and the Figure Four Leglock would have been a cool song!

"Figure four/ is half of eight; Figure eight/ is two times four';-) Close... Figure eight as double four, Figure four as half of eight. If you skate, you would be great, If you could make a figure 8. That's a circle that turns round upon itself 1x8 is 2x4. 4x4 is 2x8. If you skate upon thin ice, You'd be wise if you thought twice, Before you made another single move. Then there's a lot of filler about multiplication tables...
