I ordered these. $1.25 for an early lesson in the bitter disappointments of life.

I remember that Btooom! We're Only In It For The Money Frank Zappa full page ad in late '60s Marvels...* * appropriately for 'United Mutations' it was in X-Men #42 Also some little ads for John Buscema's art classes in NY

This early '70s ad always intrigued me, as I was just getting into music thanks to my brand new--wait for it--transistor radio! I didn't join this particular record club, but I eventually had many of these albums.

An another note - to this day, no one in fandom knows who drew the AAU Shuperstar ads. No one has ever claimed credit and no one has even tentatively guessed based on the art. That's interesting. To me, there's a few panels, especially in the 'Sinister Sole' page, that look like they were done by Rich Buckler. At other places, it looks like an artist trying to mimic Curt Swan's style.

I joined the BMG music club in the early 90s, which was a delightful way for me to stock up on classic rock and pop Greatest Hits CDs. I'd join, get my 11 for the price of one, and then quit. A few months later they would invite me to rejoin. Rinse and repeat.

Now here's an ad I succumbed to; I bought the Red Sox and Knicks albums and had them for many years.

And thanks to comics this was the closest I got to Woodstock I mean, who wouldn't want their very own groovy Woodstock pendent [sic]?

Raquel Welch Pillow in the 70'sFor $1.98 you can have a Raquel Welch Pillow measured 12"x24" ... I had a friend of mine that ordered one and he showed it to me and looked pretty darn good. Around 1974 this pillow came out.

It really does look like Swan in a few places, and sometimes I wondered if it was, but I'm fairly sure it's not. Little anatomical details that I'm sure Swan would have gotten right, for one. However, I wouldn't be surprised if there were at least a couple Swan swipes in there.

What stands out to you about old comic book advertisements? I used to see those $&^#ing GRIT ads in every bloody comic for years.
