I'll go with 7 to 10 issues. I can call it the "Takion to Aztek Ratio of Tepidity".

I said <12, but on second thought, it kind of depends on the individual series. Kirby's New Gods and Eternals, for example, were such big stories, he really hadn't had a chance to do much more than the set-up before they were cancelled, in the Eternals' case at #19. So I'd still call that an early or quick cancellation, despite having reached a relatively advanced number.

Short answer is any series announced as an "ongoing" monthly series and is cancelled between 6-12 issues or before the current story line ends and it has to be adjusted to finish off before cancellation. Anymore why is there a need for a monthly ongoing when the writer/artists all change with damn near every story line only lasting 3-6 issues? Why not just go into full blown continuous mini-series mode and print a run based upon it being finished, no matter if it is only 3- 4 issues or 8 or 9 or 12?
It used to be we followed a series for the continuing efforts of a consistent writer and or artist. No longer a thing since they all jump around at the whims of the companies desires anymore or their own inability to produce more than a few issues at a time.
