@taxidriver1980 ... How big was the poster inside this comic book? ... Bottom left corner. Just curious?

I am sorry, I don't know. That isn't a comic I own.
I think most were A4-sized, although some might have been bigger. No way to tell unless someone has that issue or remembers.

Going by other Marvel UK comics that also promoted a free poster on the cover that way... it was likely a center-spread you could detach and fold out to double that, with blank white on the other side. Here's one I have with such a poster...

In 1983, Thor got his own comic: As did the X-Men: And the year saw TWO Star Wars specials: Marvel UK also published comics for Top Cat and Worzel Gummidge, but I haven't had much joy in finding any covers.

Free Poster, Free Spinner, and Free Toy Gun ... man, it's great being a kid back then!

Free Poster, Free Spinner, and Free Toy Gun ... man, it's great being a kid back then! You can imagine how frustrated I was when I bought US comics - where the Hell were the free gifts, guys?

How come you're not covering the various name and format changes to the Star Wars comic? Well, it is a potted history. Yeah, fair enough. Truth be told, I was thinking Star Wars might one day get its own topic. I've lost a lot of cover images for the various name/format changes, but I thought they could be covered in a bit more depth later on (unless a topic already exists). Well, I reviewed all of the SW Weekly and ESB Weekly/Monthly issues that contained UK exclusive stories in my "Star Wars At Marvel" review thread (here... classiccomics.org/thread/1039/star-wars-marvel-reviews-confessor). But there is no dedicated thread about the Marvel UK Star Wars comic.

In that case, probably in this topic, towards the end of it, I can fill in all the things I missed (and I'm sure folk will let me know if there's a title I missed). It's frustrating not to be able to find covers for some of Marvel UK's non-superhero stuff. Can I find covers for their Top Cat title? Or Worzel Gummidge? Not in the usual places. And when I do find one, it's a protected image or something. Now, what about 1984? First up, Indy: I wish I could find this: The Americans got Secret Wars, but we got a Secret Wars Special: I like this cover: Marvel UK published a Transformers comic which ran for an incredible 332 issues from 1984 to 1992. It initially reprinted US strips, but did original material eventually. Here's the first issue:

In 1983, Thor got his own comic: As did the X-Men: I picked up the first issues of these, but the mostly two-tone colouring was hideous and the stories had already been reprinted and were nothing special, so I didn't come back for more. The X-Men cover was by Bob Wakelin who'd had sexy (or probably just sexist) airbrushed stories in Epic Illustrated #2 and 3. His other claim to fame was playing in a short-lived Liverpudlian new wave band called Modern Eon.

The Americans got Secret Wars, but we got a Secret Wars Special: £1.20 was a steep price to charge back then for something that would mainly be of interest to undiscriminating children. I picked up a copy for 25p and probably overpaid.

I like this cover: By Ron (Thunderswipe) Frenz and Bill Sienkiewicz, I believe.

Right, what about 1985? We got an A-Team Summer Special: Captain Britain got another title: And Secret Wars came to these shores:

Now, what about 1984? First up, Indy: The Indiana Jones strip first saw publication in the UK as a back-up strip in Star Wars Monthly in March 1983... The back-up strip featured Marvel originated stories from the pages of the American The Further Adventures of Indiana Jones comic, beginning with the John Byrne pencilled issue #1. The strip carried on in the back of Return of the Jedi Weekly comic, before moving to its own series in late 1984..which is the comic you posted above. This dedicated Marvel UK mag began by reprinting the comic adaptation of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, which had also been published over here as a hardcover annual. It then carried on with more of the Marvel-penned stories from the U.S. Indy comic.

Okay, 1986. No idea what this is, but it looks good: Secret Wars II got a UK reprint. I can't find the cover for the first issue, but here's the cover for the 32nd issue: Here's Spider-Man and Zoids: I've got to be honest, I probably skipped over the Zoids strips so can't say much about those (thank God for Google). My mother bought me this title regularly - and a lot more titles, too. It was great for the Spidey action. Final issue here:
