Nope. Mad remained a monthly, on newsstands. We carried it at B&N.
This has been coming, every since Gaines sold to Warner.
With DC editorial running things, it just got worse and now they are going to only offer reprints through subscription and Direct Market. I see that lasting about as long as it takes to fulfill subscriptions and then end. It was doing 140K on newsstands and DC can't manage that with its best titles, consistently. Direct Market only, with nothing new will more than halve that, I'd be willing to bet.
Not too surprising that the people who tried to kill EC finally managed to kill the last remnant of it. Public disinterest was a big part; but, Warner/DC did a lot to foster that disinterest.
The general public reaction seems to be, "Oh, Mad was still around? Hadn't read it in years."
EDIT-Mad was 6 times a year, under DC, whereas it was, generally, 8 times a year, under Gaines. It was quarterly, for a time, after Gaines died and DC started messing with things.

In summer camp it was everywhere when we were being warehouses in our bunks on raining days. I think that part of what killed it was National Lampoon and the increase in sex within the crank press at the time. Mad didn't complete for whatever reasons, and if it did, it wouldn't have been Mad comics anyway.
