I just saw Sara Frazetta mention in an ancillary conversation that the remaining Opus Frazetta books will not be published, as Opus failed to pay the writers and artists involved in the projects for their work. Death Dealer ran its course (and declined in quality as it went along), but the DD2099 has been cancelled, Dawn Attack will not have its final issue published, and the Halloween specials that were solicited will not see the light of day. I wonder if the same is true of the Sanjulian books they were doing that have also been perpetually delayed/late? I had already decided I wasn't getting DD2099 (concept didn't appeal to me) and was likely not to get more Opus books after the current series I was reading wrapped up before I knew about their failure to pay creators. Now, it's certain I won't support any of their books unless by some miracle something I preordered already shows up as I don't want to stiff my lcs on something that wasn't their fault. -M I recently got several emails from DCBS regarding all the Opus comics being cancelled (or at least Dawn Attack, Moth-Man and Tales of Science Fiction).

Smaller publishers failing to pay creators has been a running theme through the 21st century. Bleeding Cool keeps a running tab of them. There's more than you would imagine. -M

Scott Dunbier, the man behind all those gorgeous artist's editions, has left IDW and will be forming his own publishing house. -M

These books were always too pricey for me, but they are indeed gorgeous and so I wish the man plenty of success in his new venture.

Haven't had a chance to read through it yet (and likely won't until Sunday) but Brian Hibbs yearly analysis of the comic market via Bookscan sales has dropped over at the beat. You can read it here if you're interested. -M

Surprising because historically they've done very well with the general book store audience but not surprising considering the fact that the powers that be at WB completely gutted DC's book division as a "cost cutting measure". Who knew that getting rid of people who knew what they were doing would result in poor results?

Some kind of publishing initiative spearheaded by Scott Snyder is in the works at DC to be launched after Mark Waid's Absolute Power event. Rumors are calling it Absolute DC or just Absolute and it's said to be something akin to an Ultimate/All Star/new52 "done right" line that will coexist with already established titles not replace them. Supposedly some "A" list creators are on board and have carte blanche to reimagine DC icons. This could either be interesting or a train wreck. We'll see.

Can't post pics here really, but Gun Honey Collision Course is set for May 2024
I liked the last series, Heat Seeker, and Carla Cohen has some great cover artwork.

Lots of crossovers have been happening between BOOM, DC, and IDW, and personally, I'm all for it. Wonder if Marvel's ever gonna get a piece of that pie

Probably not, with the pedantic, boring mindset of Marvel. Be nice to think that 2026 - which will be the 50th anniversary of Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man - might warrant some recognition, or even a “spiritual sequel”, but I doubt it.

Well hey, at least were getting Omnis of DC Vs Marvel and the Amalgam universe, so that's at least something
