I met Lyle when he first started on Starman, in Augusta, GA, at a little local convention. Had him draw the Sgt Stike character, from the Eclipse series Strike! (written by Chuck Dixon). Really, really nice guy and a very underrated artist. Great storyteller, dynamic art and able to handle all kinds of stories. At Eclipse, he did the aforementioned Strike! and also the Sky Wolf mini-series, a spin-off of Airboy, where Sky Wolf and Bald Eagle are in Vietnam, hunting treasure, during the Siege of Dien Bien Phu. he also did the Sgt Strike Meets The Airfighters Special, crossing over the WW2 hero and the Airboy cast (great story).
Aside from Starman, he did the Comet series for the Impact line, at DC, with the Archie superheroes. By the time he was doing Robin, then Spider-Man, he had really gotten polished, and he was always good.
Hope he can recover; but, that is not an easy one.
