I don't know any comic books in Australia and I'm not participating this contest at all ... nor vote. You can find info on real Aussie comics here.Wonder Woman had repeated use of the giant kangas, so plenty of potential covers there. Flash fought Captain Boomerang constantly and Boomerang was also a regular in the Suicide Squad, in the 80s. Marvel's Boomerang appears in several covers, in the team-up books and in Iron Fist, where he debuted. The X-Men were based in Australia, for a time, in the later 80s, so potentials there. Charlton's Army War Heroes features several with the Iron Corporal, as feature about an American serving with the Aussies, in the South Pacific (WW2). E-Man, at both Charlton and First Comics, had a supporting character, named Teddy Q, who was featured on covers. Teddy is a koala bear. The Mark Shaw Manhunter was in Australia during the Invasion crossover and there are issues of other comics where the heroes are in Oz, during the crossover. Eternal Warrior (Valiant) served with the Aussies at Gallipoli, as featured in the Eternal Warrior Yearbook. Tank Girl has been reprinted by Dark Horse, as well as the original comics. Wolf Publications, an Aussie publisher, had a Phantom series, distributed in the US. There have been other Aussie Phantom comics. Australian artist John Dixon did comics in Australia; then, in the 90s, worked for Valiant(Bloodshot, Eternal Warrior, HARD Corps, Doctor Solar, Shadowman). Should be something there.

I don't know any comic books in Australia and I'm not participating this contest at all ... nor vote. I knew nothing about Australian comics before Foxley posted this topic. And the fun was in reading up on it - and finding a rather intriguing cover. I think you may even be able to search on GCD via country. Wikipedia will probably have a page on Australian comics.

What's funny to me is that the northwest coast of Australia would have to be the worst place to launch an invasion. Rugged coast, leading into inhospitable desert, and 100s of miles from any target of strategic importance.
(And why are the Japanese labelling their headquarters with English signage?)

I don't know any comic books in Australia and I'm not participating this contest at all ... nor vote. It is up to you, Mecha, but one of the reasons I chose this topic is that I know that a lot of US comics have had issues set in Australia. Aussies have a weird sense of humour that a takes a perverse delight in seeing the often hilariously inaccurate portrayals of our country in foreign media. (Of course, we also fuel these portrayals by telling foreigners myths about Oz, such as drop bears, with a completely straight face).
Comics usually aren't quite as bad as American TV, but are usually...interesting. (Of course, with TV shows part of the hilarity is American actors attempting to do an Australian accent and failing, often ending up sounding like a cross between South African and cockney.)
It is all in fun.

I am not a fan of this villain - however i LOVE Australian punk rock. Murder Punk! ROFL! Surely claiming the Kangaroo is 'one of Spidey's most feared foes' is false advertising of the highest order!
(Should I also point out to whoever created the Kangaroo that kangaroos eat grass?)

And why are the Japanese wearing swastikas? Because it's all a bit of clever misdirection to preoccupy the Torch and Toro while they actually invade Alaska from its northwest coast.

I was wondering if someone else would remember the Southern Squadron; if Foxley hadn't greenlit my entry, I was going to use the one with cover art by Paul Gulacy.
