Because I can't think of a set up for this, I absolutely love Howard The Duck
I know that I've gushed about it quite often, but I feel like Howard The Duck is the perfect comic, at least in my opinion. It's a weirdly surreal commentary on modern life overflowing with snark and parody that utterly fascinated me in my teens. HTD and Judge Dredd were like my bibles back then

One of the Star Wars riffs. Space Turnio issue. It was a hot expensive back issue collectible and here in Phoenix only a few over priced back issues could be found. I was happier than a duck with a cigar and his redheaded babe when finally had the entire Gerber insanity in b/w Essential format. To say it was insanely great while making my head hurt in thinking & my belly hurt from laughing is an understatement.

I was happier than a duck with a cigar and his redheaded babe when finally had the entire Gerber insanity in b/w Essential format. To say it was insanely great while making my head hurt in thinking & my belly hurt from laughing is an understatement. I've read that people basically hoarded the first issue and honestly, while funny, absurd, and light hearted, it's probably one of the weaker issues. Even the back-ups in Giant Sized Man-Thing were better.
But really though, it's kind of a shame that none of the newer iterations of the character have been able to capture the same amount of magic that original did, but that just further proves that Gerber's style refuses to be replicated or imitated. I don't think aping the feel of the Lucas movie or Mantlo's version helped much either
I also love my HTD Omnibus. Was the first Omnibus I ever bought probably the only one I ever will.

John aging in real time, a rare thing nowadays, also made the whole thing more grounded. I think Dredd is the only other character that's done that Every character in Kurt Busiek's Astro City ages in real time.

I used to have a big book of Buck Rogers comic strips. Sadly, it's long gone. I think my father got rid of it after I went off to college. I had that book as a kid! Recently repurchased it after finding it at a library bookshop!

I had that giant tabloid Howard the Duck treasury from trading among friends before I was really a collector of any kind. I don't know what I really thought of it other than a vampire cow was a funny idea, and I remember the Defenders being in it and some crap about him running for president... maybe some of it was over my head too. I absolutely loved all giant-sized anythings, also anything miniature... I'm easily amused I guess.

She apparently also recently appeared in Deadpool Team-Up and an issue of Squirrel Girl for some reason even though Howard clearly killed her by the end of the issue. I am painfully aware that death means nothing in comic books anymore
I think I liked Garko The Man-Frog more just because of how ludicrous the premise was. He just sits there on the ledge of a high-rise, bringing down property values

If so, I have it too, picked it up a few years back after hearing Jason Lenzi reminisce about it in a Pod Stallions podcast. -M

It's been so long I can't 100% confirm, but I think that's the book I had when I was a young 'un. Edit: A quick look on my library's website shows that it is available, though I'm not sure if the library is even open yet.

That is totally the book I used to have (and now have again). Wow, some of the attitudes in the book have dated badly. Wilma Deering in particular is nearly incompetent.

I have a softcover version somewhere--what I remember most is a nice almost-full-page illustration by Murphy Anderson

I Absolutely Love that there are DECADES of comic books to read and enjoy. So much to explore and discover so there is never any reason to being bored with what you read.
