I'm not gonna worry overmuch about G** D*** typos. And neither should anyone else.
If you make that typo near someone from Cincinnati, you are placing your life in danger. They do not consider it a triviality, but reason for acquittal in the murder case they will face for killing you. At the very least, they will consider you an uneducated lout and disregard anything you have to say in the future. It is a matter of respect, not typing for them. Having two different spellings for a syllable with the same pronunciation, in the same word, is just cruel. At least "Mississippi" is consistent with its double consonants. English is long overdue for a spelling overhaul to return to phonetics.

I'm planning to do this with WKRP IN CINCINATTI-- now that, after so many years, they FINALLY got the "music rights" situation straightened out and have put out a "proper" set with the ORIGINAL music intact. Just like on my old tapes. They have?? Do you mean to say I can *finally* buy a complete, unadulterated DVD collection of my all-time favorite sitcom? Sam, you just made my YEAR!
Cei-U! I summon Dr. Johnny Fever!
My exact reaction as well!

English is long overdue for a spelling overhaul to return to phonetics. Cincinnati is not an English word though. It's borrowed from another language (based on the Latin name Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus). It's what makes English one of the more difficult languages to learn, and codify, a large chunk of the words commonly used are not native to the language and follow spelling/pronunciation protocols from other languages. Unless you are going to purge all the borrowed words, you are not going to be able to codify the language to get any kind of consistent standard for spelling or pronunciation. -M

Just like on my old tapes. I might have to pick up that set, now that it's restored. Especially since I grew up there when the show was originally aired. I remember a lot of the places in the opening credits. But... CINCINNATI! NOT "Cincinatti"! Arggh! Yeah! Its is Sinsuhnaddi.

Yeah! Its is Sinsuhnaddi. Wait, is that the new spelling according to rberman's phonetic suggestion? 'Cause I always thought it was Sinsignatty...

I taped so many shows back in the 80's-90's. I had a few hundred tapes of Star Trek shows , from the original to Ds9. A few years ago I gave them all away to a guy on craigslist. Besides that VCR's are all gone, the storage becomes a problem. I now have DVD's and I doubt I'll ever go to purely digital.

I too had a ton of VHS tapes that I have slowly all thrown away and now use the shelving space for my Omnibus and TPB's. The only VHS I have now are 2 of family films transferred from Super 8 which I need to transfer to DVD. I still have my Disney VHS and the 1st two VHS movies I bought: Magnificent 7 and Gunfight at the OK Corral if only for the memories of the moment.

I have something like 150 movies on VHS, in addition to my DVDS and Blu-Rays. I've replaced a few of the former with the latter but, given my sparse spending money, it's not exactly a high priority. Plus, my VCR still works just fine so despite the huge difference in quality I'm gonna hang on to 'em (not that I ever have time to sit down and watch a movie these days).
Cei-U! I summon the holdout!

Those Disney VHS tapes used to be expensive, hard to believe that Goodwill sells used copies now for only 25 cents each.

Speaking of VHS, it cost so much to collect a series back in the day. Here in the UK, CIC Video released Star Trek: The Next Generation over 89 tapes. Yes, 89 tapes. Imagine the cost - and the time taken to collect. And the space needed at home.
Now one can get a complete season for twenty quid or less.

You can watch entire ST series on Netflix.

You can watch entire ST series on Netflix. For now... The problem with Netflix is that they sign renewable contracts for the content. They used to be a great one-stop shop for most anything I wanted to see. But now all the content owners are setting up their own pipelines, e.g. Disney+ and BritBox, which is why Netflix was in such a frenzy to get their own proprietary content. I wish there were a centralized portal where you could look up any media and then it directed you to the channel that is currently streaming it.

You can watch entire ST series on Netflix. I know, but there's an impermanence to it all. For how long will all the ST series be on there. I discovered Masters of the Universe on Netflix a couple of years ago. That's another series I used to watch on TV/buy on videotape. And one day it was gone, just as I was 3/4 of the way through the first season. I've long been an advocate of Netflix shows/movies having an "expiry date" next to them, so you click on a show/movie and it'll have "Available until February 2020" or something. It would allow me to judge the order in which I watch something.
