E is for Edmund Bell
L
(based, IIRC, on novels by J. Flanders, which was another nom-de-plume of Belgian writer Jean Ray, who made "Harry Dickson, the American Sherlock Holmes" a success in Europe, though he had not created him originally. Some of his works are nicely Cthulhu-mythosesque, with his masterpiece arguably being "Malpertuis" which was turned into a movie with Orson Wells and is based around an idea that has been used in superhero comic books like Wonder Woman and Hercules a few times. )
