Buying Goals
- Golden Age stuff that isn't DC and Timely/Marvel - More Luke Cage and Iron Fist stuff (all eras) - More Legion of Super-Heroes (Silver Age)
Reading Goals I'm serious about meeting
- Continuing with the "Judge Dredd Case Files" - Continuing with "Slaine" - Back issues of TwoMorrows publications
Also, since they appear to be out of print, finding as many "Essential Marvel" and "DC Showcase" volumes as possible as I like the format.

Buying Goals
-continue with collecting old/well very loved and discarded war and western comics whenever possible -attempt in getting more of the "high end" comic strip collections like Tarzan, Flash Gordon, Prince Valiant,, etc. 1/3/20: bought from Amazon: Fiction House; from pulps to panels from jungles to space.
-start into British War Trade collections: both TPB and Hardback. Lots of interesting things I have learned of in 2019 and wish to pursue. 1/3/20: Bought from Amazon: Garth Ennis presents Battle Classics 1 and 2. -clearing out both comics and DVD's in the collection which are simply "sitting there collecting dust" -work on collecting TBP's of Strontium Dog
Reading Goals I'm serious about meeting
-read ALL of the Valerian trades collected and comment about in the CCF -read ALL the Corto Maltese trades collected and comment about in the CCF -catch back up with my Usagi Yojimbo trades collected reading and comment about in the CCF -finish reading the rest of Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe series and continue with his Lost Kingdom series

Comics Buying Goals: Honestly, probably very little this year. There are a handful of Fantastic Four issues between #100 and #107, a few Frankenstein issues, a dozen Hulk issues between #150 and #179, and three What If? issues that I might try to get if I can find them relatively cheap.
Otherwise, I am probably looking at grabbing some more Showcase Presents from used bookstores, maybe some Marvel Epic Collections (would like to get some early Captain America issues, only so I don't have to read the actual floppies, and possibly some Fantastic Four as well).
Going to try to limit the number of $1 books I bring home. They are starting to take on a life of their own, because they don't seem like much, but next thing I know, there is a pile of 30 of them and I have no real place to put them.
Comics Reading Goals: 1,000 books minimum, with 75% or more being classics.
The big goals this year, and they are sizable, are to get through two of the following series from start to finish: Avengers, Daredevil, and Iron Man. I started Daredevil a few years back and got to issue #64 until I had a gap in the series, so I stopped, and I have read Iron Man from the Tales of Suspense stories up through #20 or so.
Some other things I want to read this year are From Hell and Maus, both of which I bought in 2019 and did not get to.
Comics Reviewing Goals: OK, another year, another set of revised goals. I would like to get 12 Captain America reviews, minimum, posted. One is in the can already (#113), and the others simply require me going back through the issues again and taking notes.
Comic-Related Goals: I am addicted to Funko POP figures, so I need to slow down my buying of them. In 2020, I would like to only acquire some of the classic-style Spider-Man villains (Lizard, Kraven, Sandman), maybe Silver Surfer (I have the other 3 original members of The Defenders) and Doctor Doom, but other than these, I need to really carefully consider which ones I buy. All told, I have over 50 of them (not all Marvel-related, just mostly; I own 14 Doctor Who figures, Ash from Army of Darkness, and Tyrion Lannister from GoT, but everything else is Marvel).

Reading Goals
-continue reading the Bronze Age Batman/Detective with Shaxper's reviews as my guide -finish reading the solo 1970s Joker series -continue reading the early 80s Green Lantern run -continue reading The New Teen Titans run -finish the Alan Moore Swamp Thing run -start the original John Constantine: Hellblazer series from the beginning -finish the John Ostrander Spectre series -finish reading The Power of Shazam -continue reading the post-Crisis Wally West Flash title
I might be going a little too ambitious, but I'd like to read more things I enjoy rather than some stuff that is simply out of habit. I'm sure other things will come in and replace some of these.....or I may possibly hit some of these and they'll be done.

I’d like to read some more comics this year. I suspect that last year may have been my lowest ever.
I may try to revive a few of my review threads. The most likely one is “gone too soon.”

As I say every year, I hope to make a dent in the big backlog of newish books I have accumulated over, say, the last ten years or so.

I am still thinking through what my comic goals are for 2020. A lot of them revolve around organization and downsizing a bit, separating wheat from the chaff so to speak and getting rid of a bunch of stuff I will not likely revisit in the foreseeable future, or that I no longer need physical copies of to revisit if I do choose to. I started the process a few weeks ago, selling off a couple of crates worth of Marvel trades that I was not likely to reread anytime soon (and if I do change my mind, well I have access to all of them on Marvel Unlimited).
There are still some books I am looking to acquire and tons I am looking to read for the first time or revisit.
Let's do reading goals first...
I have completed runs of several series over the past 2 years that I just haven't gotten around to reading yet. These include (but are not limited to)...
Nexus Grimjack Grendel (including several Grendel Tales minis, War Child & Behold the Devil) Captain Victory Dark Horse Comics Eclipse Monthly Eclipse Magazine Epic Illustrated Echoes of Futurepast The various Elric mini-series from First Kamandi Hawwkman (200os series-I read the Showcase 70s series, Shadow war, 80s series Hawkworld mini & onging, and 90s series last year) John Carter, Warlord of Mars DC's Tarzan Marvel's Tarzan Dark Horse's Tarzan Ka-Zar is Astonishing Tales Ka-Zar (70s series) Ka-Zar the Savage Primal Force The Shadow (DC 80s series following up Chaykin's mini) Spelljammer
plus several minis and short series (under 12 issues)
I would like to get 8 of those listed series read over the course of the year, and 10-12 of the shorter series as well.
I have acquired several Showcase collections and omnibi over the last 2 years as well that I haven't had a chance to dive into, plus a bunch of the DC Silver Age trades (breaking the ominibi into several tpb volumes).
I would like to read some combination of at least 8 of those over the course of the year.
I have stacks of other trades (mostly from Ollie's hauls over the last couple of years) that I haven't gotten to.
I would like to read at least 25 of those trades over the course of the year.
I also want to get to the stack of vintage paperbacks I amassed over the last 2 years as well, so we'll see.
As for acquisition goals, I have a list of books, most have been nagging me for several years. Single issues or a small handful of issues to complete series or runs that I just haven't run across at shows or in shops (some since I came back to comics after a hiatus in 2012, others not for the past few years).
These include:
DNAgents 24 Chilling Adventures in Sorcery 1
Conan the Cimmerian 25 Conan: Ravagers out of Time GN Conan the Rogue GN Mystery in Space 112 Alien Worlds (Pacific) 4, 8, 9 American Flagg! Southern Comfort & State of the Union GNs Batman/Hellboy/Starman 2 Dune (Marvel adaptation) 3
House of Yang 6 Sandman Mystery Theatre 61, 65, [66, 67 Subhuman 4 World Below: Deeper & Stranger 1
I'd like to find/acquire as many of these as I can. It will depend a lot on luck, of running into these somewhere in the wild of finding affordable copies online outside of ebay (I will not buy or sell on ebay for a number of reasons).
I'd also like to work on finishing as many of the following series as I can...
Bat Lash (need 5 issues)
Crossfire (need 9 issues) Jack Kirby's Fourth World (need 13 issues need 3 issues) Phantom Stranger (need 3 issues need 2 issues)
Dr. Fate (need 5 issues) The Dreaming (need 11 issues) Ghost Rider (90s series; need 13 issues need 11 issues) Legends of the DC Universe (need 17 issues need 13 issues) Orion (need 6 issues) Scout:War Shaman (need 7 issues need 2 issues) Kitchen Sink's Spirit (need 33 issues need 27 issues) Spirit: The Origin Years (need 3 issues) Yang (need 6 issues need 3 issues) Justice League of America (need 18 issues, fist 100+ issues in omnibi)
and continue to work on longer range series I have been chipping away at the last few years including... DC Star Trek Dark Horse Presents Phantom Flash Gordon DC war books Kubert covers Whisper Xenozoic Tales Mister X Silver Age Hawkman the Milestone books 70s Ghost Rider DC mystery books Charlton horror books Gold Key horror books EC Gemstone reprints
and a few things that will be mostly new to 2020 that I got a bug for late last year...
Red Circle heroes Batbooks (in trade mostly but filling in some via single issues where more affordable that way).
I am a little more vague on specific goals this year (especially acquisition goals) as a lot of things were in flux late in 2019, and I am not sure how they will play out in 2020 yet, so setting detailed long terms goals at the moment is challenging, so vague has to suffice for now.

My only real resolution is to get my Tintin review thread finished in 2020.
But I also said that a year ago, so we'll see.
