Avatar Picture #1 Adam Strange DC ComicsSource Picture from: Adam Strange Special from ComiXology I used a program from Microsoft called Picture Manager to get cropped and sized to a 150x150 maximum size and later compressed the picture to get picture at the smallest size possible. About Adam Strange ... reading countless stories in the Silver Age of Comics he became a favorite of mine due to his resourcefulness, dedication, and knowing exactly what to do in all situations that required by him. Most of the stories that I read about Adam is from Mystery in Space, Showcase, and DC Comics Presents. But, the bulk of the stories is from Mystery in Space and my most favorite book is when he teamed up with Hawkman in "Planets in Peril" and I know most of you probably read the story too. He's a favorite of mine for years and one of classiest outfit imaginable that's eye-catching, bold, and it's serve his purpose to fight interstellar menaces head on. One down, and 99 to go.

Avatar Picture #2 Alanna Strange DC ComicsSource Picture A Quick Trip to the 73rd CenturyIt is a bit confusing to see two pictures ... a couple years ago I did a thread of the top 150 DC and Marvel Logos and I just can't remember where I found the bottom picture and that's the one that I used to create the picture of Alanna Strange for my Avatar here. I had to find another source picture for this thread to make it more believable for you. Here's the picture (see below) that I use for Alanna Strange. She cropped, resized to 150x150, and compressed to ensure that the picture can be shown in my avatar. I wanted to focus on her gorgeous locks of hair and this is the best picture in the internet that I can find and the blue blouse complimented Adam Strange's costume. Alanna was a regular in the Mystery of Space Comic Books and other selected books as well and she is one of those rare heroines that I admire and wants to help Adam anyway she could. She is a favorite of mine and I'm a fan of couple working together that alone expressed teamwork and commitment to each other and that's important to me and some of you here as well. I have more couples to share and that's why I loved the teamwork of Adam Strange and Alanna Strange so much! You have to wait for it. I even considering using this picture for the avatar at one time. Because of the Yellow Tunic underneath her Blue Blouse for added color ... the more that I think about it and numerous tries of cropping ... this picture was discarded after 15 minutes of trying to make it work for me. Two downs, and 98 to go.

Great Splash Page from Planet in Peril ... Starring Adam Strange and HawkmanNotice that Alanna Strange and Hawkgirl appeared in this issue too. I'm a strong advocate of couples working together in Comics and that's one of my favorite stories that I read as a kid back then. I'm going to be creative in this thread and try to keep it simple and real to me.

It's certainly nice to see the comic panels from which you took your avatars, Mecha!

I agree with you on Adam and Alanna working together. I think it's cool. Too often the wife or girlfriend's job in the comics is to try to get the hero to stop being a hero (either intentionally or unintentionally) so it's nice to see a woman support her man and the couple working together also.

Avatar Picture #3 Ant-Man Marvel ComicsSource Picture I found this picture about a month ago about a week before Christmas and I was terribly disappointed in my previous picture and I read quite of few Tales of Astonish books and found this beauty of a picture that appeared in Tales of Astonish #35, that came out in September 1959 and it was the easiest picture to crop, size-up, and compressed. Note: When, I was cropping that pictures ... I wanted to make sure that I got three ants in it and focus on the Ant-Man as well. Mission Accomplished. Ant-Man is one of my earliest favorites and certainly more interesting than Atom of DC Comics and made me a good reason to read Avengers as well. Hank Pym a man with many identities has captured my fancy and allowed me to enjoy his adventures with friends in the Avengers ... especially with Janet Van Dyne of all of you know as a Wasp. I just loved the ideas of couple working together that's a big influence on my reading as a kid and still is today through Marvel Masterworks and selected saved books as well. Anyway, Hank Pym is a winner to me and I loved his antics as Ant-Man and one of the best characters around. Three down, and 97 to go.

Avatar Picture #4 Aquaman DC ComicsSource Picture About the picture the 2nd picture is found inside of More Fun Comics #89 and for the record ... I prefer this costume more than anything else in the world. I find the yellow gloves and fins in his boots area unique and colorful and I prefer the original costume over any other existing costume that he has. When, I was cropping this picture ... one thing I did not like about it is that RED from Aquaman lettering (The Q) and I did not like that one bit; and I use Microsoft Paint to erase it and that's did the trick. Aquaman is one of my favorite comic book superheroes and again another Superhero that has a female helper by the name of Mera ... and they are one of my favorite couples in the world of comics. 4 down, 96 to go.

I've admired the avatar but wasn't sure if I wanted to know how/why/where... but this is a great thread! Can't wait for more now! I'm still learning stuff about Aquaman (and Mera). Adam Strange and Alanna, and Ant-Man and the Wasp, are also among the royal couples of comics to me!

I had forgotten that the 40s Aquaman had yellow gloves and really big fins on the back of his legs.
