I just watched Joker (still havent really decided if I like it) and my question is does anyone see that version in DC'S Joker beyond the makeup and hair? I know this is a broad question but not sure how else to word it.

The latest Joker Movie is not my cup of tea and all the Joker(s) ... Cesar Romero is the best one yet and Jack Nicholson is the best one in the Movies. I just don't have a favorite one in the world of Comic Books and it's a hard thing for me decide the best. I will try to think for more in a couple days from now.

I know this is a broad question but not sure how else to word it. Which movie version? I have never really expected consistency from the comics (Think how many different Batmen there have been in comics over the decade) so I don't care much about consistency in the movies. My Joker is basically the Dick Sprang version - doesn't go around killing people because how gauche, but views supervillainy as absurdist performance art. But the Heath Ledger version was my second favorite.

I think the Joker is the most over-rated and over used villain in comics.

I think the Joker is the most over-rated and over used villain in comics. I agree but by the same token when he's good (Heath Ledger) hes really really good. And when hes bad (Jared Leto) hes embarrassingly bad. In regards to the comic I feel Denny o'Neil Neal Adams make my classic Joker and Frank Miller's is horrendous.

Heath Ledger is the only screen Joker I have liked. But I haven't seen the new film yet.

I'm really not a fan of anything Silver Age Batman, but this Joker needs to come back. The psychotic nihilist take has been run so far into the ground, it's reached China.

I assumed that was based on Moore's The Killing Joke - the idea that anyone can have "one Bad Day" (or several!) And turn into the Joker. I don't actually think that's an ACCURATE read of The Killing Joke, but that was the comic the current movie - which I liked - was based on.

I think the Joker is the most over-rated and over used villain in comics. Galactus, Magneto and resurrected Norman Osborn all say hello.

I know this is a broad question but not sure how else to word it. The Joker has "used" many faces (personalities) over the decades, but on screen, the villain as seen in The Dark Knight and now Joker captured the idea of how this kind of madman would appear and function in reality. Both excellent versions. The others....Romero was ridiculous (even the terrible 1977 Filmation Joker was more "Joker" than Romero), Leto tried to prove how edgy he was (essentially, his entire career as an "actor"), and Nicholson? He was bloated, and simply playing on bad fan idea (of the time) that wondered how "Nicholson would play Joker" all based his image from The Shining. That is not a character, but a one-note facial expression.

Heath Ledger's Joker isn't really like the comics, the closest thing is probably how Bob Haney wrote him in the 70s.
