Was in the loft and took a couple of pictures from my Project Sword annual. The story art is nothing special but I really liked the schematics that they included:

Starting with #24, fan publication Andersonic has been including a new UFO comic story, and it's pretty fab! I'm waiting for an #26 to go with #25 so I can double up on postage to Canada.

Welcome back! I just ran across a Gerry Anderson appearance I hadn't know about before: I finally got around to watching the recent Aquaman movie last night and Arthur's Mum, on seeing Stingray on the television, throws her trident right through the screen!

Thanks, Becca! Ah, of course. That was a nice touch, eh?

There was an earlier Anderson parody on some show involving erstwhile (I like that word) Goon Harry Secombe. They were also doing Thunderbirds which was such a tremendous hit in England at the time, but the show might be one of those "missing presumed wiped" ones... they even wiped many Spike Milligan Q shows and Michael Bentine's Square World as well as many Not Only But Alsos by Cook & Moore. I can't even find a still picture of the show but I saw one (from a Radio or TV Times I think) that showed Secombe and whoever's show it was in costumes with huge ropey strings attached. Not terribly inspired maybe, later people would make fun of the actors in Space: 1999 as being wooden like the puppets. I'd like Sooty to take a hammer to all the puppet critics.

Despite the popularity of Thunderbirds it was Gerry Anderson's Stingray that was included in the series of postage stamps released in 1996. From left to right: Muffin The Mule (and John Mill's sister, Hayley's aunt, Annette Mills), Sooty (with Harry Corbett, not to be confused with the Steptoe & Son actor), Stingray (Troy Tempest was modelled on James Garner), The Clangers (created by Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin), and Danger Mouse (a Cosgrove-Hall cartoon). So roughly '40s, '50s, '60s, '70s and '80s!

I’m more curious how the various Thunderbird crafts were fuelled. TB1 sure would have used a lot of fuel. Who delivered it? The island is secret, remember? Did they have an oil well on the island?
