NOT AN ENTRY! But I had to post it. He didn't do a cover, but this is an early Frazetta splash page(1947) from Exciting Comics #59.

Cody, your character seems to be wearing city shoes in the jungle. Shoe store in the jungle? Jungle Jimmy Choos.

One of only two 'Xela' (Alex spelled backwards) covers I ever had, and I suspected it was ever so slightly copied from the Jumbo Comics #78 cover I posted above. The hand and arm holding the bow for instance. I love all those colorful Xelas though, there should be a portfolio set of every one of them (and also the Matt Baker St. Johns while we're at it, I remember a set of Frazetta Famous Funnies was done once). Sincerely, (Super) Beccabear Of The Jungle (In Outer Space)

Sincerely, (Super) Beccabear Of The Jungle (In Outer Space)I also had this one (long gone), which I found at the Atlanta Fantasy Fair, in 1991. It was one of two issues of Exciting Comics I had, the other being issue #9 (first appearance of the Black Terror). I bought it for the Terror; but, really wish I had just searched for the Jerry Robinson and Mort Meskin issues (which AC Comics reprinted; so, it's all good). The Judy of theJungle story was fine; but, artistically, the best segment is Roger Dodger. Black Terror..... (Not the best example of the character) Judy of the Jungle... (I'm amazed that a strapless dress stays up, swinging and running through the jungle. Also note the fact that a constrictor also has venomous fangs) Roger Dodger... Lot of people getting tied up in this one issue. Makes you wonder if Marston was ghost writing it.

That pre-1950 criteria made it tough... there are some real killer jungle covers between '50 and '54.
But anyway, from April, 1944-- cover by Alex Schomburg: There are definitely some good ones into the 50's but perhaps that is for a future endeavour should I find myself victorious down the line ... Glad I saw this--I was all set to go with a Cole Terrors of the Jungle cover

Glad I saw this--I was all set to go with a Cole Terrors of the Jungle cover I would have beat you to it... Cole was the first thing I thought of, but most of his jungle covers were after 1950.

So, it is possible to ride a zebra? I actually discussed this once with a friend during a trip to the zoo. I think zebras are cool, and I would love to ride one.

I think zebras are cool, and I would love to ride one. as a fan of the 1980s, I am surprised you are not familiar with this then... or the one featuring art rather than photos... I am not sure but they might have homaged the marketing campaign of the Reeves Superman with the tagline-you'll believe a girl can ride a zebra... -M
