In honor of March Madness starting soon, I was thinking of doing a tournament to decide the top "Classic" superhero group here at CCF. I'm calling any group from the Bronze Age (which I'll say is up to and including 1986) or earlier a "Classic" group.
Since this will be a single elimination tournament with no byes, I want 16 teams. Right now, I've got 20 teams (and possibly I've overlooked somebody - sorry in advance) I've got 11 teams (JLA, New Teen Titans, Fantastic Four, Avengers, X-Men, Legion of Super-Heroes, JSA, Defenders, All-Star Squadron, Doom Patrol, and the Outsiders- as in Batman and the..) which I am saying are already in the tournament. That means that there are 9 teams left to battle for those other 5 available spots in the tournament.
So, please vote on which 5 teams you want to make it to the "Big Dance". This poll will be locked Monday morning March 2 at 6:30 AM EST.
A NOTE ON THE TEEN TITANS: Only for for them of you want them to be counted as a separate team from the New Teen Titans! Since they disbanded and didn't exist for about two and a half years, then came back with a mostly new roster, I wasn't sure if it would be better to count them as two separate teams or not, so here you get to decide. Yes, by that logic you could probably do the same with the X-Men, but I get the feeling that nobody really considers the old X-Men as a separate team from the new X-Men, plus the X-Men didn't really disband in the comic book universe the way the Teen Titans did, so it wasn't technically a new team the way the Titans were.
Note on the Invaders: I forgot to include the Invaders in this poll and it can't be edited. If you want the Invaders to make the tournament, please mention it below!! Consider them a write-in candidate. Same goes for anybody else you think I've fogrotten.

Similar problems arise with the two Guardians of the Galaxy (future or modern) and the two Seven Soldiers of Victory (Golden Age or Morrisonian).

Not really, because this poll is supposed to be for groups from up to about 1986, and I believe that the modern Guardians of the Galaxy and Morrison Seven Soldiers of Victory came well after that.

I want to vote for the Invaders but they are not there. -M Oh man! My bad. I can't edit the poll now. After this poll is done, maybe I'll figure out some sort of quickie poll to decide on the Invaders. In the meantime, if anyone else wants the Invaders, please mention it! If I get enough "write-in" votes, maybe I'll just add them to the final tournament.

I just realized that the West Coast Avengers could have also been added to this list, as they were created in 1984, though I guess you could argue that they're just an extension of the regular Avengers. Oh well.

I'm undecided: The Eternals were never really a team and nor were they superheroes, but I might have to vote for them anyway as my favourites of those listed.
It would be between them and the Inhumans, but arguably they weren't exactly superheroes either, though probably closer to that genre than the Eternals and at least their core group did function as a kind of team much of the time.

Ooh What about Watchmen? They're from 1986, right? I know the "Watchmen" in the story were the scientists with the doomsday clock rather than either the old or modern teams of super-heroes, but you know who I mean.

Nah, too close to the end of that time period, plus they're basically one-shot heroes as far as I'm concerned. Maybe I should have just had an "other" button and had people list their write-ins.

I think I'll have to give the Invaders a write-in vote also.
