OK, the field is set. I took my best guess as to seedings. 16 teams in a single elimination tournament, similar to the NCAA.
The poll will lock Monday, March 9 at 6 AM EST.
So, just vote for your fave, and hope that they can make it on to the next round!

Classic Guardians are great; but, even they don't hold a candle to the Legion, for me.

Is Legion fandom the most generation specific of the Big 2 titles?
Silver and Bronze Age people seem super devoted to Legion, but for a Copper Age Baby like me, that dedication is a real head-scratcher.

Seems to me that early 80s was their peak, and they fell hard by the mid 80s. Was it the move from spinner racks?

I think I might be in the minority, but my Legion love is from the Triangle Era.. My princess Projectra is a snake I find the Silver Age stuff a little silly, and the Giffen stuff too grim.

I'm pretty sure that the direct market series sold quite a bit fewer copies than the "spinner rack" series did. At least, I remember in the letter column after the first Legion leader election in the direct market (Baxter) series, and Paul Levitz mentioned that there were a lot fewer votes than there had been in previous elections, and speculated that the direct market only nature of the Baxter series may have been the reason. In terms of quality, though, I think the quality of the Baxter series was very high. The art was great, and Levitz continued to add characterization to the Legion - no small feat with such a huge cast, plus juggling subplots and throwing in the occasional epic, such as the battle with the Legion of Super-Villains, or the Universo Project, to name a couple.

That was a fun era. I'm a big fan of the Legion from the late 60's through the mid-80's and that's my favorite era, but I do like the "reboot" (or "Archie") Legion a lot, too.

Archie Andrews with magnetic powers? Well, anyway, the Legion of Super-Heroes/Star Trek crossover was pretty good, and I'm currently reading the Scooby-Doo Team-up series and I'm praying that Scooby and the gang eventually get to the 31st century and help the Legion pull a mask off a "ghost"!

The 'Archie Legion' was decent... but not as good as what came before. I feel like from the Triangle era to 'Legion Lost' by Abnett and Lanning was a pretty complete story. After that I felt like it was treading water.

Legion fandom was definitely big in the 60s and 70s; but, not always enough to support the title. However, it was big enough to keep them around in some form. The 60s stuff could get pretty silly' but they had a bit more diverse group of characters and they were young, which helped. The 70s gave us the first real fans-turned-pros on the series, with Dave Cockrum on art and Shooter back writing on the series, after some time away. Shooter wasn't originally a fan; but, broke in writing Legion stories, in the 60s.
With the Legion, I think it was more of a case that they were a vocal, organized fandom, compared to others. The peak was probably Levitz & Giffen and the Great Darkness Saga. Once levitz is more distracted with editorial duties and Giffen has more say, it becomes much darker, though you do get fan writers Tom and Mary Bierbaum on the series, which added to character development.

I know that at some point, probably in the early 80's, the Legion was one of DC's better selling titles. Otherwise, they largely owed their continued presence in comics to one of the most dedicated fan bases out there.

Contractually I have to vote for the Steve Gerber title.
I've loved the Silver Age Legion ever since 2014 when I was a wee young lad of 37 but I never really got into anything after that.. maybe if the library gets nice trades of the Giffen run I might change my mind. Also really, really liked the post-2000 pre-movie version of the Guardians!
