I don't imagine Crystal was ever given this outfit again since, if I remember, she was only wearing it because she had been hypnotised by Diablo and it was part of some scheme he had going, the details of which I forget. I kind of like it, though. Mycomicshop.com credits it to John Buscema, 'with touch-ups by John Romita', which makes me wonder what Romita added or altered, if anything.

Not the biggest Aquaman fan, but I really liked this series and this costume.

It certainly gives more of an underwater vibe than the old orange one. Nice artwork. I looked up the artist but don't think I ever heard of him before, Craig Hamilton.

The costume though was designed by the writer Neil Pozner, who was also a production designer for DC and an artist in his own right. He was one of the first creators in the field to pass from complications from the AIDS virus, bringing the issue to a higher level of awareness in the comic community. Pozner was also responsible for discovering and bringing in a host of talent tot he industry including Travis Charest, Gene Ha, Stuart Immonen and Phil Jiminez, the last of whom was inspired to come out to honor Neal when Neal died in '94. I remember reading Phil's tribute to Neal in the back matter of one of the books he was working on at the time, and while I was familiar with him from the Aquaman mini, it really opened my eyes to his contributions (and struggles) in the industry. I remember seeing some other stuff from Hamilton in places like Marvel Fanfare-he had a portfolio published in the back of one of the Vess Warriors Three issues iirc, and did a Storm story somewhere in there (looking it up it was #40), and did a handful of entries in Who's Who in the DCU. I recall him doing a couple of issues of the Spectre series with Hal as the Spectre with J.M DeMatties writing I believe. His mainstream stuff was sporadic, but he had a lot of stuff in small press publishers and indy books as well. -M

His most recent significant work looks to be a Fables book, Werewolves of the Heartland where he was pencilling (and part of the inking team) over someone else's layouts. -M

I had a little difficulty deciding what to vote for. If a character is wearing another costume, isn't it now their own costume? I'm talking about an updated version or variation of their regular look .

I've always liked the variations of Spiderman's suit. (It makes for great eye candy in the Spidey video games.)
