Captain Marvel Jr from Fawcett. 10cents provides 3 Marvel Jr stories and Mac Raboy cover and presume inside?!? Captain Silver's Log of the Sea Hound for 10cents from Avon looks intriguing with pirate treasure inside!!! Detective Comics #103 DC 10cents for the Batman in me!A nice Dick Sprang cover with Bats, Slam Bradley, Three Ring Brinks, Air Wave and Boy Commando stories inside. Jungle Comics #69 Fiction House 10center. Very nice cover so want to see story goes with it! Marvel Mystery Comics #66 for 10cents gets me more Marvel stories of Torch, Subby, Miss America, Patriot and Angel. Military Comics #42 from Quality for 10cents I can read Blackhawk, Choo Choo, Death Patrol, Private Dogtag and PT Boat. Treasure Comics #2 from Prize with adventures of the Arabian Knight! Snazzy cover, so why not? Wing Comics #61. fiction House with story Raiders of the Purple Dawn featuring Clipper Kirk and Captain Wings. Always wanted to see a Wings war comic.
S $1 buys me 10 comics, each with multiple stories and stars. I get some super hero, some war, some pirate, some jungle and some fantasy enjoyment. No westerns around but there are tons of interesting covers which capture the attention and possibility of another $1 to be spent!!!

(It's late January 1940. The following is an excerpt from the inner monologue of a 10-yr old boy.)Ah, here we are, at good ol' Mr. Epstein's Candy Store... gee, haven't looked at the comics rack in a while, wonder what's new? Wow, quite a trip to a significant month. The mice rather liked the egg cream touch!

beccabear67 , this was a really fun one! Thanks! My initial reaction was to go straight to February 1964 for Marvel's Daredevil #1... ...OK, got it! Hmmm, what else is there? Let's get a mix of stuff...DC has some fun-looking stories, and Marvel has some awesome covers, and, look, a gorgeous cover with robots! - Adventure #319 - Can't go wrong with early Legion!
- Lois Lane #48 - Lois plays Cinderella, and just the crummy chores part from the look of it. Supes, you're such a troll!
- Superman #168 - Lex is after Supes again, and he may just get him this time! Oh, no!
- Amazing Spider-Man #12 - Unmasked by Doc Ock! You know, I think this Spidey character may become pretty popular someday. He's on the cover of my DD book, too! Cool!
- Fantastic Four #26 - The Avengers take over?! What?!! How?!!!
- Journey Into Mystery #103 - Stan, Jack, The Enchantress and Executioner!
- Magnus Robot Fighter #6 - Russ Manning was so good!
All this AND four shiny pennies left over for some Bazooka Joe bubblegum!

Let's take a look at July 1977. I would be 15 years old (turning 16 in August), just finish freshman year and enjoying the wonders of summer before starting my sophomore high school year in August. I was primarily a Marvel Zombie with some DC tossed in. So neither of them to choose from this month and I will be spending $2 which with inflation would be what I consider as near the same if spent $1 in the 40/50/60s. What will I get that has my attention?
Betty and Veronica Summer fun Giant issue #472 for 35 cents will scratch my Archie fix since I was only reading my cousins issues and this one I don't remember ever reading. Betty/Veronica/summer/girls in bikinis. Need I say more?
Gold Key Uncle Scrooge #156 at 35 cents. Always liked good ol' unca Scroogie and never collected any Disney or Warner Bro's comics in the day so Scrooge is a start.
Add on another Gold Key Disney with Beagle Boys #44. Always enjoy these goofball's criminal antics!
Gotta get another Gold Key Star Trek #55 for 35 cents with a beautiful Enterprise and shuttlecraft painted cover. Never could find Trek comics as Gold Key must have a very limited distribution system out here in Arizona.
And lastly spend 50 cents for another Gold Key Boris Karloff Tales of Mystery #84.
Leaves me with 10 cents for satisfying my sweet tooth with whatever that dime will get me.

Okay. I'll bite. Cover date Oct. 1952
Hmmm..Mad #1. That looks cool. Better grab it.
Hmmmm...the new issue of Astounding Science Fiction has the first part of a new Asimov novel. Cool...James Gunn and Walter Miller too. I'll spring 35 cents for that.
Gotta grab the new Jim Thompson paperback. The Killer Inside Me. Sounds cool...and cheap at a two bits.
That cover on Shock SuspenStories #5 is a killer. Hah...I slay me.
Huh...both Little Lulu and Tubby. I know it seems kind of juvenile but that Tubby cracks me up. (Four Color #430).
A dime left. Lotta good looking EC books. But...I don't know much about Blue Bolt Weird Tales of Terror #115 but I can't pass up that cover. Hope it's worth a read.
