NPR linked this, since MTV is turning 40 (Man, I am old, since I remember when it was the "new" thing).
The First 100 videos on MTV:
9% are Rod Stewart!
I found the Specials to be interesting, as we got MTV the next year and they never played them or any time after, that I ever saw. Really, the only one of the Ska bands that got any airplay, that I recall, was Madness, with the English Beat's "Save it For Later," being the only other one in much rotation, and that was from their last album, Special Beat Services, which was more pop than Ska, which was part of the reason why Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger broke off and left Dave Steele and Andy Cox to go looking for a singer (which worked out well, as they found Roland Gift and became Fine Young Cannibals).

Hmm. I wonder if I'm the only one who - when scrolling down the page and first sees Sheri Lewis and Lambchop and then Senor Wences and Cecilia Chicken and then Randy Savage - thinks for a moment that Savage is also a ventriloquist and the fellow in the suit is his dummy...

No, but now that you pointed it out... if your go down one post further to codystarbuck 's next post, the thumbnail on the Buggles video looks like Geoff Downe's left arm is operating a giant Trevor Horn mannequin dummy bass player. This post needs a ton of thumbs-up likes.

I'd post some Jaboody Dubs commercial parody vids, but the language can be quite coarse at times... so, no.

Yeah, that's the cleanest one I've seen. Their Spider-Man cartoon dubs are pretty funny in a vulgar way.

Growing up in New Orleans, I was treated to a lot of great things, namely our local horror host, Morgus The Magnificent. Unforutunately, Morgus has been off of the air for years, mostly airing reruns until sometime in the early to mid 00's, but you can still find the show online thankfully

Morgus also got his own movie in the 60's, which is pretty rare unless you're Elvira

Orson Welles at his best and worst (the peas video does contain some coarse language, but it's too funny not to include)
