I think you have within 90 days to make a claim on ebay/paypal now. I thought it might be extended due to Covid, but all I can find is the 30 days from expected delivery date. And even then I'm not sure if they mean the last date of the eBay window (which would be three weeks away) or the estimated date on tracking (which would be next Tuesday).

Looks like the label says small amount of color touch-up You have better eyes than me...I couldn't read the label. 👀 Even looking at it now, I absolutely cannot see where the touch-up was done. This book only had one owner before me, and back then, the book was pretty much worthless, so I wonder if it wasn't Steve Gallacci (the publisher) himself, who did the touch-ups on some of these after lugging them around from con to con.

It is possible to have restoration like color touch removed. Im not sure how much it costs, and I'm not sure if they can predict beforehand what the new grade will be, so its hard to say if it would be worth the cost. The restoration will affect value, but this book is so hot and hard to find it may do okay anyway. Plus its possible if you don't remove the restoration yourself, people may bid on it with the idea of removing it and then flipping the book, so that could drive the price up some as well.

How much is that Avengers #4 going for ? I'm going to let the Comiclink folks determine that.

Just shipped the slabbed books off to ComicLink (thanks so much for the suggestion, Phil Maurice). The two exceptions were Vampirella #1 (still in line at CGC since it's a magazine), and Albedo #2 (which a certain Crimebuster has snatched up from me). Comiclink believes I'll get around $5,000 for the remaining books. So, in total, and including the ebay sales, I'm looking at around $6,000 net profit after fees and grading/shipping/insuring expenses. I'll miss these books, but I'll enjoy being able to repair my leaky roof, pay off some debt, and buy my girlfriend an engagement ring 😁

Glad to hear that slightly restored book has found a home. Like him, I wonder if such defects are surmountable, but my gut tells me it's just throwing good money after bad. Had a copy of Fantastic Four #6 come back from CGC this week with the dreaded purple label of death: Color touch, glue, and trimming along the entire top edge. Bummer because even if I could remove the glue and color touch, I can't fix a trimmed book. Hopefully, I can at least break even on it some day.

The expert I consulted with at ComicLink gave me some interesting pointers about restoration. Most importantly, he told me that if the restoration is minor, very white pages tend to compensate for the perceived defect. Fortunately in my case, the pages are very white. Still, it took roughly $1,500 off the asking price. Not that I'm complaining. I'm happy, Scott's happy, it all worked out. I am so sorry to hear about FF #6. It's insane how good some of these restoration jobs are that we can't spot them when they are right under our noses.
