That is a good idea, although I do wonder if we could perhaps all trial a contest where we use ONE hosting service (such as Imgur) that we know everyone will see. But I’d be happy to include the title/issue number.

I like Hal's idea. I don't like the idea of imgur, I just use the image icon to post a link to an image I find online, I really don't want to have to download a cover and then upload it to imgur and then link it, more work than worth it.

Hang on, what sorcery is this? You can do that? I didn’t know (I confess, I don’t know my way around forums as well as I should, even the quote function gives this Luddite a problem or two).

Thanks for letting me know -- his image doesn't display for me. I'll remove mine. I can't see Dubip's either. Thanks for the head's up everyone. I tried a new picture. hopefully you can see it now.

I won’t name names, but there are some people here whose images I never see (and I got bored asking). I did mention the fact that GDPR *might* mean some hosting sites don’t display images here in Europe, but that fell on deaf ears. That’s fine. I no longer, like I used to, ask folk what their images are (and, again, not naming names), but I didn’t create GDPR legislation, politicians did. It does mean there are contests (more often than not) which showcase covers that don’t appear here. Imgur seems to be the best according to what one technically-minded person told me. It is a shame not to see certain images. Maybe we should just include the title and issue number in all contest posts as a way to circumvent it? That way we can always find the entry elsewhere. That's a good inclusion to each contest. I'm for it.

Sorry folks, when I can't see a cover I normally right-click on the image "broken picture" icon to "inspect" it--often the issue number and title are listed, or some other information that enables me to identify the comic. But time has been tight for me in recent weeks so I don't have the luxury of lingering here and this time around, I quickly scanned the already-submitted covers to see if that particular issue of Lassie had been posted. My bad!

What about a shared imgur account people could ask and get a password for? I went to sign up with them way back and they seemed to want an awful lot of info including your phone number (we have enough nuisance calls anyway, afraid it would get sold on to such 'marketers'), so I never started with imgur because of that after photobucket finally got around to messing up my stuff with them. I usually have remembered to put the title and issue number of my choice, but I see I forgot this time. Our Gang Comics #4.

Yes, you find an image online, and get its address. I usually right-click on the image and choose "open image in new tab", so I can go to the new tab and see the URL for the image. Some images aren't linkable - if the URL starts with "data:", find another image. If it looks good, copy the URL. If the image is on a site where I know the images are linkable, I skip all that and choose "copy image address" from the right-click menu. Once you've got the image address, click 'reply' here at CCF to open a new post, choose BBCode if it puts you in Preview mode, and type: [ img ] {paste URL here} [ /img ] But without the spaces. Others use the 'Insert Image' icon in the posting screen, as kirby101 mentioned. Try it both ways, see which you like.
