Enjoying a day of Hammer horror films playing on MoviesTvNetwork. Began with Horror of Dracula, then the Mummy, then the Gorgon and finishing up with the Abominable Snowman of the Himilaya's. Cushing and Lee, the British Lugosi and Karloff. Happy way to enjoy Halloween indeed. After watching Horror of Dracula myself earlier this month I'm very keen on seeing more Hammer horror, especially the Cushing and Lee films: such great actors individually and so good as a team. Apparently they were also very close friends in real life, which is nice to hear.
Horror of Dracula is one of my favorite Hammer films. But another favorite is the seldom-seen Vampire Circus. Worth searching out... there's also a comic connection, as Brian Bolland illustrated an adaptation of the film, which appears in the British The House of Hammer magazine #17 way back in Feb. 1978. The story was later reprinted (and colorized) as "Vampire Carnival" in Brian Bolland's Black Book from Eclipse Publishing back in July 1985. The comic is also worth searching out.
I'll keep an eye out for it.
Latest horror movie I've seen was Possession (1981), directed by a Polish filmaker I hadn't heard of before, Andrzej Zulawski, and starring Isabelle Adjani and Sam Neill. One of the most demented movies I've ever seen, and as such, not easy viewing, but if you want to see a director and his actors really pushing the limits, I'd say check it out.

Watched Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948). The classic Universal monster movies are real comfort food for me and this one is a delight from start to finish.

Yeah, it's a super fun film, and one of my perennial favorites.
A movie theatre in nearby Nashville is actually showing this tonight on the big screen. Wish I could go, but I have another obligation this evening.

Would love to see this one on the big screen. I don't think any Abbot & Costello movies have ever played in the repertory theatres around here, that I'm aware of. I always jump at the chance to see something on the cinema screen that I know only from seeing it as a kid on tv.

Spent Friday afternoon and evening with horror movies to kick off the weekend. I watched Trick r Treat, then Devil Girl from Mars. Fixed up some dinner and sat back for 4 hours of watching Elvira's Movie Macabre on CometTv. They ran Werewolf in Washington and Lady Frankenstein.
Saturday's fright fest consists of a double billing of Vincent Price as the Last Man on Earth and Chuck Heston as the Omega Man. An early afternoon showing of Fiend Without a Face on MoviesTv. While ending the night with a ghoulish friend: Svengoolie who is showing Frankenstein meets the Space Monster followed by Horror Hotel hosted by Lamia the vampiress hosting Snow Beast. This is one I am looking forward to as I have fond memories of this made for television movie starring Clint Walker, Bo Svenson, Yvette Mimieau and Robert Logan hunting during winter for a local killer yeti.
