Just noticed that the winning bidder has zero feedback. Good luck, hope it works out. New eBay accounts and buyers can be hit or miss.
I panicked as soon as he bid, but he sent immediate payment, so it's all good.

Thanks. I'm really thrilled by this one. First thing I've sold for major cash that I was actually looking to get rid of.

I saw it got 2 bids but the 2nd one has 0 feedback, those type can get a bit risky.....
Like I said above, he came through just fine. It's actually the established ones I'm learning I need to watch out for these days. Just had my third established buyer in the past month fail to come through on payment. They get overzealous, jack up the bid crazy high, see they can get it cheaper elsewhere, and leave the seller hanging on the line, no real consequences. It's getting obnoxious. Of course, I can't complain about ebay and their lack of enforcement too much. I am making some very nice money that is really helping us out while Amber stays home to care for Owen. I'm lucky to have only one out of every fifteen buyers of extremely expensive books that I don't really need flake out on me, I suppose.

Well the books I sent to CGC in the second week of July are FINALLY being processed as of this morning. Some of those books aren't hot at all anymore, but I do have a Strange Tales #110 in there.

Yeah, the hot books I sent in August are still 'scheduled for grading still' and will be out of the hot range when I get them back. Oh well, first appearances will still get some money, just not the crazy ass money.

5 hot books that have dropped in value
Not sure this is anything new. Hot books are hot for a reason, and when their moment passes, or the event that triggered interest in the book fizzles, demand drops. Eternals #1 stopped rising as soon as early reviews for the movie came back mixed. I've seen books rise and fall by hundreds of dollars on a given day based on hype. It's kind of amazing, actually. But I don't see this as any indication that the market is calming. if anything, it's a reflection of increased volatility.

Nope, nothing new, those books just aren't flavours of the month anymore. And most weren't of interest to me anyway (sold all my Spawn years ago).

Sorry if it's been mentioned, but due to the popularity of The Peacemaker show, early Adrian Chase appearances: New Teen Titans #23, New Teen Titans Annual #2, Vigilante #1.

Damn! I used to have that annual. Hell, sometimes I see something listed as a "hot book" and think "Isn't that in my dollar box?"

Dear past self. That's so cute. You assumed this meant your books were actually moving along in the queue. Five days later, the books are still being "graded/encapsulated".

I have a friend who left a dozen or so of his and other friends books with a guy who would clean/press them then send them to CGC for grading in May or June. Last I heard, they still haven't gotten through the first guy's queue and sent out.
On the positive side, they are mainly Silver Age Marvels, not "currently hot" books, so likely to retain their value despite the delay.

I’m really surprised another grading company hasn’t started up to compete.

I’m really surprised another grading company hasn’t started up to compete. There's been one that failed (PGX) because the consensus was their grading wasn't accurate, and one that seemed it would be a competitor when it launched and had a better reputation (CBCS) but the sense I got was go to CGC if you want a higher grade than CBCS so the spec market glommed on to CGC over CBCS and now CBCS seems to be in disfavor with the collecting community. They don't seem to have the backlog and delay that CGC does, but most in the market still insist on CGC over CBCS and if affects resale values now. -M
