Either way you go, it's just an effin' racket, and grading inconsistencies abound.

Agree about the inconsistencies....my own friends re-submit 9.4s without any cleaning/pressing and they became 9.8
However, if someone wants to pay me a 200% premium for a 9.8, sure son

I may not like the game, but I know how and when to play the game. -M

He keeps nothing slabbed for himself.
I can appreciate the niche but some feel that anything slabbed and graded 9.8 suddenly turns to gold....and are left licking their wounds when no one wants to spend $50+ on dollar bin fodder.

I acquired several of these variant back in 2011-12 for around $20 each. Was offered the rate going on ebay, about 40x as much and sold one. Made back a lot of what I spent just before Christmas....

I just read online that New Avengers #7 might be the next hot book. It’s the first appearance of the Illuminati, rumored to be in the new Dr. Strange movie.

Spiderman 2099 #1 leapt up overnight to $20-$50 a copy now that it's been announced that Sony is considering making a Spiderman 2099 movie.
That book was dollar bin fodder just two months ago when I bought a copy for Owen.

That's one I wouldn't sell... one of the very few books I got autographed.

I wonder if books featuring Eclipso are worth anything since the character appeared on the Stargirl tv show. I just got both of the 1992 specials from a dollar bin, which otherwise was full of mid-90s Image, New Universe stuff, and books that, while good for reading, arent really burning up the sales charts (ie, Blue Devil, Warlord, The Maxx).

While appearances in Marvel shows is absolutely driving speculation, there seems to be little to no speculator interest in the DC Shows as of now. Perhaps it's because there was already so much Arrowverse content out there long before this new speculator era began, or maybe it's just that speculators are far more interested in Marvel than in DC at this point.

I know that it'll never happen, but I would KILL for a Punisher 2099 co-appearance provided that the character is as outlandish as humanly possible

That book was dollar bin fodder just two months ago when I bought a copy for Owen. I picked up a complete run of #1-25 in a quarter bin just before the pandemic hit. I think I read the first three or four and wasn't impressed, so they ended up in a pile somewhere. Fast forward to halfway through quarantine, I tried again and got through maybe #6 or 7 - not even quarantine had me bored enough to finish the run. Long story short, I'll be watching and waiting for a chance to offload these for a small fortune!

I have several issues, including #1, in that series that I have more than one copy of if they do go up in price that I can offload.
I personally liked most of 2099, Spiderman especially. I still have some issues of Doom, Ghost Rider and Ravage to get. Punisher was one of the ones I actually never read any of at the time other than the one title crossover they had. With that I will have every 2099 issue of the original release series.
