Like the cover says, this kind of slap should be... For Lovers Only! Who are Jon and Kathy...and are they still together??

This was the cover I posted...is it not showing up for everyone? If not, I'll post a different one. Sorry GA -- it did not show up for me. I've deleted my post. And thanks to those who let me know--much appreciated!

And, honestly, who amongst us has not fantasied about bitch slapping Bucky? I know I certainly have. Captain America Comics #65That’s like the “behind-the-back-backhanded slap”! Wow, Cap is flexible. He doesn’t even break his stride.

This whole series shocks me. When I read the stories tho, it’s nice to know that CRIME does not pay, but ironically, a person has to pay 10¢ for CRIME the comic book.

Changed my mind. Since this topic is bound to be full of covers that make people uncomfortable in one way or another, I'm going to post my original choice. I balked at this initially, but we must remember that topics and images which were a product of their time must be viewed in a historical reference context, and not be retroactively judged by modern standards. Or as my father used to say, "we must remember both the good and bad of history, so that we don't make the same mistakes twice."
However, I do not endorse the message of this cover in any way... If I were a 10-yr. old boy in 1943, I might feel differently.
Action Comics #58, March 1943-- Detective Comics Inc. cover art by Jack Burnley.
Wow, wow, wee, wow!

The Invaders #31 Nazi Frankenstein Monster slapping Cap? This issue ticks a lot of boxes.

To me, Lady Luck looks more like she's delivering a karate chop than a slap.
Actually, the blonde on Slam Bradley's Secret Hearts cover almost looks that way too, kind of, but that one was certainly meant to be a slap, whatever it looks like.
Some great artwork in this cntest so far but I suppose because of the nature of the topic, many of the covers are not easy to like.

I’ve seen crazier violence on comic covers and no one says anything. I feel like I let you guys down and maybe I should have picked a topic like upside down characters or best romance cover instead (both topics I really did consider). Sorry it wasn’t fun.

Personally, I think it’s okay to explore darker feelings and I definitely think that when a person sees some of the entries that they should feel uncomfortable and that’s normal. That discomfort tells a person that they’re good natured. Anywho, these are just comic book covers at the end of the day. They won’t change me or the discomfort I feel when I see a doctor slapping his patient then kissing her or the joy when I see Bucky backhanded or the hope that Spider-Man will get at least one good slap back with at least one of his six hands. I mean, seriously, how do you lose a slap fight when you got six hands and super powers?!

I don't have a problem with it as the topic-- we had executions as a topic last year... so yours is hardly the most egregious or controversial subject to date. Again, if viewed in the proper historical context (most of these are vintage covers from another time with different social mores than today), there's nothing wrong with it as a topic. If people choose to participate or sit this round out, it's totally their choice and I wouldn't begrudge or ridicule anybody based on their choice of conscience or principle.
I think most (if not all) active members here are smart enough to know that the behavior depicted on a 40+ year-old comic book is not necessarily condoned in modern society.
