I've been anticipating this film heavily since just the logo was released:  And when the suit was revealed I almost jumped out of my seat like a little kid: And the score continued to thrill me in the first tease: And now, with the final trailer out and how much I loved the tie in comic by the screen writer, Batman: The Impostor It's looking like this could be the best Batman on film yet. It's a tad grim and gritty but it looks amazing none the less. |

Not particularly thrilled with the the casting, or another "early years" film. Mr. Twilight does not have the gravitas Bale and Affleck brought to the role.

Somebody at work was asking me if I was going to see it; I just said, "It's not my Batman." Batman Begins was fine, Batman (1989) was fine, Batman (1966) is terrific fun; but, for my money, no one has topped Batman TAS and Mask of the Phantasm. That had all of the elements of Batman I loved, over the decades.
The trailer looks like what I would expect and it may be well crafted; but, it does nothing for my sensibilities.

The suit put me off from ever seeing this. Call me fussy or close-minded, but I'm sick to death of "realistic" costumes in general and Batsuits in particular.

As someone thoroughly sick of this character and "dark" and "gritty" superheroes in general, I'm happily surprised to say that I just might give this one a look-see. The casting choices are first-rate across the board. Pattinson proved his acting chops to me in The Lighthouse. And Zoe Kravitz in fetish gear? You won't hear me complaining.

As the Riddler is my favorite or possibly second favorite (tied with Scarecrow) Bat-villain I have to see this.

Saw it. And can appreciate the acting and writing but I'm not the target audience for this version of Batman. So I left the theater a bit disappointed. I can't get into why without spoilers.

It's not my preferred version of the Riddler, but apart from it being a Batman movie it seems like the kind of movie I enjoy, so I still want to see it. I have heard that Batman actually acts as a detective in this one so that sounds good.

Please just tell me that there isn't yet another re-hash of his origin in this film. By that I mean, not another depiction of the murder of his parents when Bruce was a boy.
Judging by the trailers, it seems part of this plot is linked somehow to the Wayne family history, okay that's fine but I don't want to see another origin, it's tiresome. They do with it Batman, with Superman, if you don't know their origin by now, you've been living under Ayer's Rock in Australia.
Just gimme Bruce Wayne, here's Batman, plug and play into a mystery/action/drama, that's all I want if Warner is intent on remaking these sort of films every few years or so.

Watched this over the weekend with my girlfriend and we both enjoyed it. She's not a Batman fan however she did like both Heath Ledger's Joker and Joaquin Phoenix. She felt Pattinson is a better Batman than Bale.
Personally I thought this was interesting but it's a very long film almost 3 hours. Pattinson was a good Batman although I didn't care much for his Bruce Wayne. I liked Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle and I wouldn't be surprised if Colin Farrell got some nomination for best supportive role as The Penguin. The special effects makeup makes him almost unrecognizable. The casting over all is pretty good with Jeffrey Wright and Andy Serkis I can't complain. Paul Dano's Riddler seemed very much modelled after The Zodiac killer visually but his plan for Gotham was very intricate. There's a scene during the falling action we're Riddler meets a "new friend" that i hope pays off in a future film. I think I was most excited to see a Batmobile that looks like a real car. The chase scene was pretty epic!

Ended up seeing this today (my dad wanted to see it and he needed a ride).... it was alot better than I thought it would be. I liked that there was alot more Detective in it that Superheroics, though the armor was a bit ridiculous. Riddler was excellent.... seems like they're setting up No Man's land? Not sure that would work as a sequel, but more like a show... should be interesting what comes next.

Not a fan of this one. Better than the Snyder version for sure, and Pattinson was fine. But the message of the movie was muddled at best, Batman was ineffectual, I hated this version of Riddler, the movie was 9 hours long, and it felt like I was trapped inside Robert Smith's hair and couldn't get out.

The length and characterization of the Riddler aside I think this might be my favorite Batman movie to date. I loved how menacing Batman was coming out of the shadows and the relationship with Gordon was fantastic.
I wonder what elements they'd pull from No Man's land for the sequel?

I just watched this movie and what I found most surprising is how much of the Pre-Crisis Batman is in this.
Totally contrary to what I expected given the tone and R-rating, but this Batman might be the most normal Batman we've seen in a movie in a long time. Yes he's tortured and all that... but he works hand-in-hand with Gordon and feels a lot like an amateur detective helping police than a snarling vigilante striking at criminals from the shadows.
And I think this is the first time I've seen Batman actually help people, rather than just beating criminals up.
