I hadn't read any Aquaman comics before the new 52 (although I have went back since and read some of PAD's stuff). I think Aquaman has been one of DC's most consistently good new 52 titles. Geoff Jones did a decent job of reintroducing the character and I found Throne of Atlantis really enjoyable. Paul Pelletier draws some really stunning underwater scenes and Jeff Parker's run has been pretty fun. So anyone else reading this?

You can count me as a fan of Aquaman because of Paul Pelletier done some fabulous drawings of underwater scenes and that alone makes me wanting to look at his art first and then I try to read the story 2nd. I find the Throne of Atlantis an excellent Novel and it's one of the DC Comics better works in the past 2-3 years. I'm also an Aquaman and the Others fan too.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I never read an Aquaman solo book regularly before the New 52. I wasn't even interested in the character before Geoff Johns revamped him in Brightest Day. Now, I read both Aquaman and Aquaman & the Others. Mera and J'wara are also favorites of mine.

I thought I was alone, but I'm glad to see I'm not. I've never read any DC book regularly in over 30 years of collecting (always been a Marvel Zombie), but I heard so many good things about the new Aquaman series that I went back and picked them up, then read all of them over the course of the past two weeks. Johns' run was better by just a little, although I do like Parker's work as well, and the art has been great throughout.
My only quibble is with the villains, as once you get past Black Manta and Ocean Master, it gets a little thin; Chimera was OK and Scavenger was the typical mercenary/treasure hunter, while the issues with Hercules were pretty dull. Does Aquaman have any other villains of note, or are they going to have to create new ones while bringing back the superstars (BM and OM) frequently?

Well, there's also Siren(Mera's sister) and the Marine Maruader but that's about it for good Aquaman villains IMO.

I read the first dozen issues and liked them quite a bit.
I guess I'm one of the few, but I liked the water-hand Arthur too.

I have read several of the previous iterations of Aquaman. The New 52 Aquaman is my favorite. I think this is the Aquaman we have really all wanted to see in the comics. I am hoping they translate this to the big screen for the live action version. I have to say, I am not sure how Jason Mamoa will turn out as Aquaman, but with this darker DCU, he is probably the right guy to play him. I was not a big fan of the hook-hand Arthur, but I did like the water-hand Arthur. I felt like that made more sense, with Atlantis' mystical heritage.

I liked PADs Aquaman the best, myself... they really played up the royalty angle, and the hook hand was epic, IMO (I know alot of people didn't like it).
The New 52 version is also very good... though more for Mera than Aquaman... I've been reading it in trades.

I read and enjoy Aquaman in the New52. Geoff Johns might have the best run on the character ever. I also like Shaun McLaughlin's run back in the early 1990s and the Outrageous Aquaman that appeared in the Brave & the Bold cartoon. Aquaman's first Showcase Presents Volume with stories from the Silver Age was great as well.
Other than Black Manta and Ocean Master, they should probably stay away from Aquaman's old villains and try to make new ones drawn from the marine and mystical realms. Chimera was one I did like.

Agreed - Chimera/Creature King is awesome!

I liked the Chimera story arc as well and think the character design looked pretty cool. I'm also intrigued by the current story line involving the fate of Arthur's mother.

I need to pick up Aquaman from DC Comics again, I completely forgot about it because I was focusing on Superman Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman, and Sensation Comics. I will ask DC Comics to mail me AQUAMAN - Thanks to Jesse412 to remind me again.

New creative team announced for June. While I'm enjoying Sinestro I can't really say I'm excited about this change. I find the new Lobo to be mostly uninteresting. I hope that this new team will be able to continue the quality of this title, which in my opinion has been the most consistently good book DC has putout since the relaunch.

I almost always purchase all New 52 Aquaman titles when ComiXology offers them on $ale for 99 cents each. So far, I have enjoyed every issue I have read.
