Anyone watch Falling Skies? I finished the 1st season last night (Amazon Prime lost the rights to BSG, sadly). Seems like a decent alien invasion show so far... a bit melodramatic, but pretty fun to watch so far. I've seen it through Season 3, and if season 3 is any indication, in my opinion, like Fringe it should have ended long before it did. I'm still interested enough to check out season 4 once I can get in on DVD or instant from Netflix, but if 4 continues like 3, I'm throwing in the towel. And my dislike of the season 3 is not the alien invasion part itself, but it's the character drama. It's getting be like watching General Hospital (of which I did watch a year or two with my wife in the early 00's) ... melodramatic, as you mentioned, and pathetic. I'm starting to wonder if the attention being drawn away from the alien invasion aspect of the story is cause it has no more steam left, and all they can come up with is high school drama. But then I never really latched on to any but one character this far in. That may be where the fault lies.

I have to agree with Mr. Warlock's critique of Falling Skies. It started out not that great and has only gotten worse. I always forget how bad it actually is over the 9 months they're off air and wind up watching it again. I seem to recall they are only planning one more, though.
As for FRiNGE, Mr. Warlock, you are way off-base. It started out okay and got better and wound up being a pretty damn excellent show.

The fifth season of Fringe feels like a completely different show. I think it's terrible, but I don't really like that whole post-apocalyptic/dystopian future thing. Same reason I quit watching Dollhouse.
I love the first four seasons, though.

I was hoping for less melodrama in season 2.. sounds like I'll be disappointed. If it still got y'all to watch, though, perhaps the bits I'm enjoying will stay prominent Both Gotham and Agents of Shield were pretty good this week, at least .

As for FRiNGE, Mr. Warlock, you are way off-base. It started out okay and got better and wound up being a pretty damn excellent show. I watched the first two seasons on a Amazon Prime free trail probably 2 years ago or more (when I was working nights) all right in a row pretty much and it ended well. I was really stoked to watch the third season. While I still didn't care for the characters much, the alien invasion part was keeping my attention and the cliff hanger that season 2 ended with only made me more irritated Amazon didn't have it for free. Anyway about 6 months ago is when I got season 3 on Netflix DVD and just how they started season 3 from the ending of 2, made me think this isn't going to be good. There are a few episodes I enjoyed and I still like the invasion aspect of it, but the characters that were already not on my favorites list are just getting worse. And Fringe ... ...should have ended when Walter shot Olivia. I don't care if that episode ended with her dying or not, but just that it ended. The rest was so tacked on, and a completely different show to me, that it didn't seem Fringe. It had about the smoothest continuity as Lucas' prequels to the existing Star Wars. I was hoping for less melodrama in season 2.. sounds like I'll be disappointed. If it still got y'all to watch, though, perhaps the bits I'm enjoying will stay prominent Both Gotham and Agents of Shield were pretty good this week, at least . I think it's worth the stay to at least get through season 3. The alien invasion aspect is alive and well and takes a nice turn as far as that aspect. The rest is tolerable. But that straw is getting close to breaking the camels back for me. For me it's getting to be like Buffy, (of what I've watched over the years with my wife, not much on my own) good supporting cast, horrible, boring, and melodramatic starring cast.

Now that Netflix is streaming Season 4 of The Walking Dead, here I am a year later catching up. I usually rather agree with every criticism leveled against this show, but I'll be damned if I'm not binge-watching as fast as time allows. I'll be sad when Season 5 starts but not sad enough to drop another $80/month (at least) for cable...

Yeah, I know there was criticism of The Walking Dead for being slow or different in season 4, but frankly I thought it was by FAR the best season to date. The first had some good and bad but seasons 2 and 3 suffered a lot with all of the changes and some horrible writing. Season 3 was a hot mess. I thought 4 was really good, and 5 looks to be great.

Well, I liked all the Absorbing Man stuff in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. two-part season premiere.
But I'm not totally on-board with this Fitz-Simmons thing, though. I'm fine with post-stroke Fitz (semi-consciously, apparently) hallucinating Simmons' presence in her absence. But the idea that she just up and left because Fitz' condition made her uncomfortable just makes her seem like a bad, selfish person, and out of character from what we knew first season. They should have just killed her off in the finale last year. The hallucination storyline would make a whole lot more sense with that as the cause. And it's a comic-book show, so they could always bring here back fro the dead if they needed to.

Did you see the coming attractions for next week? Simmons plays a big role in it and addresses the possible why of her leaving (and if she is in fact a bad or selfish person)...my wife had a theory on it though....but I don't want to spoil anything for htose who didn't see the trailer...

My wife watches and enjoys Forever, and I caught bits and pieces of it. It seemed ok, not enough to fully hold my interest, but not one of the shows I make sure I am not in the room for when she watches it, (Psych and White Collar come to mind in that category).

Watched the first two episodes of Sleepy Hollow earlier. I'll probably give it at least a couple more episodes, but it hasn't grabbed me yet.

This Is the First Weekend in America With No Saturday Morning Cartoons : gizmodo.com/this-is-the-first-weekend-in-america-with-no-saturday-m-1642441646------ I celebrated last Saturday by plugging in my antenna and watching the two rerun episodes of Spectacular Spider-Man on the CW. The surround sound mix was excellent and the show itself was pretty good. (To be accurate, AntennaTV which is available via broadcast in most places, carries an hour of old Columbia cartoons both Saturday and Sunday mornings on the "Totally Tooned In" show. And a local broadcast station also plays a Fat Albert rerun Saturday mornings. Last week they were doing a story about how computer hacking is bad... that one was from 1985. Cutting edge. )

Thanks for the heads-up. Do you know what also premieres tuesdays? The meta-spinoff of Veronica Mars called Play It Again, Dick on CWseed.com. It's pretty funny. Anyone who liked Party Down or Veronica Mars should enjoy it.
