Caught up on the last three episodes of Millionaire Detective last night, and then realized they were the actual last three episodes. I'm gonna miss the series, but I hold onto a very slim sliver of hope that popularity permitting we get future seasons (or perhaps a manga continuation). I've seen it described as Japanese Batman, but I think that only really works if you think any rich person with childhood trauma is the ____ Batman. Daisuke is just a rich guy who decides to become a police detective. There are no secret identities or super-powered characters. His personality isn't even really similar to Bruce Wayne (that I've read). Although he does have a super computer like the one in the Batcave. It's a pretty short series, at only eleven episodes, and while the first three are fairly episodic, they serve to develop the Daisuke and Haru characters, and it does have a major over-arching plot that takes over the last two-thirds or so of the series. It's on Funimation, which I believe you can still watch for free if you don't mind ads, and they seem to be dubbing an episode per week (currently up through the third), if subtitles bother you. That sounds fun! I haven't watched a whole lot of anime lately.. mostly waiting for shows I liked to have new seasons... maybe I'll have to switch over from Crunchyroll to Funimation!

I haven't watched Crunchyroll in ages, because I watch TV at night when dubs are easier for me, and other than Konosuba, all the stuff I'm interested in only has subs. The content definitely felt more varied than Funimation, which leans pretty heavy on shonen stuff.

I've watched about half the first season of Cobra Kai. Fun blast from the past. I like that there's no clear protagonist among the adults, at least at this point.

Stumbled through Netflix and found "Anne With An E". I grew up loving the PBS show Anne Of Green Gables and it was nice to see the book brought back to life for a new generation. I had a bit of a lump in my throat while watching the trailer and most of episode 1 because of how sweet and earnest the show is. Was surprised at how dark it is in some places

Only things I watch regularly on tv now are Warrior Season 2 on HBO Xtreme and the 2 spin-off Walking Dead series.
Have not watched wrestling in months.

Have not watched wrestling in months. I watch Smackdown almost every other week and never feel like I'm missing much because nothing really changes and there are no big draws (and people talk about comics as a disposable medium...). Really liked Heavy Machinery and the bar room brawl between Jeff Hardy and Sheamus, but that was about it
I feel like WWE is, as always, going through growing pains. I think the last time I was truly engaged with the WWE as a product was CM Punk's Pipe bomb speech (which is honestly hard to believe is almost ten years ago)
I mostly just stick to indie wrestling these days. Loved Lucha Underground and still have niggling interest in Kaiju Big Battel

The final episode of Supernatural airs this week, wrapping up its fifteen season run (which stretched into 16 years due to COVID). They were seven episodes from the end when things went to hell last spring, with five episodes shot without post-production finished, but with the final two episodes still to be filmed (and they had to make some adjustments to their plans due to COVID, so while the end result is the same as planned, the path they took isn't).
I didn't get into the show until the middle of the second season, but I've been with it ever since (my wife dropped out after season 9). It has had some great seasons and arcs, as well as some duds (season 7 is unwatchable as a whole, although there are a handful of episodes that are enjoyable), but for a genre show on a low-rated network, getting to 15 seasons and well over 300 episodes is an accomplishment the creators, stars, and everyone involved with the show should be proud of.
Once this is off the air, I have zero shows on any of the major networks that I am watching. In fact, the only two shows I am still watching are The Mandalorian and The Great British Baking Challenge (which is something my whole family watches together every Saturday night). Looking forward to the Marvel content to start hitting Disney+, but until then, I will not likely be spending much time with my TV except for English football on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

No Penguins or Pirates?

We cut the cord four years ago, so I don't have access to the local sports channel (used to be Root, may be AT&T now). I have really lost interest in the Pirates over the past three years. Don't really miss watching them, although my wife and I do sit on our deck in the summers and listen to them on the radio. I do miss the Penguins, but we recently got a Xfinity Flex device with Peacock Premium for free due to have their internet service, so I'm hoping that I will be able to at least see the Pens when they play on any of the NBC networks.

The Liberator on Netflix is a rotoscoped animated miniseries (four episodes) with a very strong Sgt. Rock vibe. It's about a company made up of American Natives, Mexican Americans and Caucasians from the Southwest, with an uplifting e pluribus unum message. The visual format is pretty interesting.
I would recommend it to people who enjoyed Band of Brothers and wish for more.

I watched the series finale of Supernatural last night, and it really wasn't the outcome I was expecting. Not that it was bad, just not how I envisioned things wrapping up. After last week's "season" finale, including the montage of past events at the end, they could have ended everything there and it would have been satisfying. Probably not one that I'll watch more than a couple of times, likely only when I do a full series rewatch.
This episode was nice but not necessary, and judging from some of the fan reaction, not welcome. Can't please everyone, I guess.
Carry on, my wayward sons...

I just watched that with my wife last night. She had already watched it when it aired. I have never consistently watched Supernatural, especially in later seasons, but I do have my favorite episodes. It was a great show from what I have seen. My wife was really into the show and all of Mr Padaleki's charities since mental illness is something she deals with. Even the second time she watched it she couldn't hold back the tears. I thought it was a nice ending to a 15 year show. The two brothers got their peace in the end, each in their own way. And maybe the best thing for it. I've seen way too many shows, some not even as long as Supernatural, wear out their welcome and become bland.

Just finished binge watching season 3 of Cobra Kai. Another excellent job, with plenty of reunions from the first two films and allusions to the third. They even get into Kreese's background, including Vietnam, though I felt that part came across like a low budget exploitation film. The relationship stuff is still gold and I love the chemistry between William Zabka and Xolo Mariduena; they make a good comedic team and dramatic pairing. Very much the same kind of feeling between Daniel and Miyagi in the film, while still being its own unique thing, which is why I love this series. It triggers the nostalgia vibes, yet tells its own story, within this world and offers different perspectives on things and people. Fights are still rather over the top; but, the films got worse and worse about that, too.
