Heads up Horror fans! Starting October 1st 2021 CometTv will be running 2 episodes every Friday night of Elvira"s Movie Macabre for your blood drenched Z-movie thrills and chills. This will be the 26 movies she did as a syndication packet around 2008 I believe.

I wasn't a particular fan of the Karate Kid franchise (saw the first one and enjoyed it, but never watched the sequels or reboots) and only the recommendation of son #1 got me to give Cobra Kai a chance. It was good advice! It's a pretty good series!
After watching Iron Fist a few years ago, it's a relief to see actors fight and think "say, these dudes are actually pretty decent!"

I’ve been watching the first season of Godfather of Harlem. I’m generally enjoying it as long as I keep in mind that some of the history is just going to be wrong (they do have a nice disclaimer at the start of each episode). I will say it’s not super egregious and it’s just nice to see a show centered on Bumpy Johnson.
While it’s cool to see Paul Sorvino as Frank Costello (who should be completely retired by ‘63) and Chazz Palmintieri as Joe Bonanno, they both seem a little…on the nose.

Just watched the third and final season of Netflix's Lost in Space reboot.
I really liked it! The story line was wrapped up in a satisfying fashion, with many good character arcs being brought to fruition, and it had an optimistic overall conclusion. I don't know why the series ended after only three seasons (one suspects it must have cost a bundle, though, requiring massive audiences to justify its price tag) but it didn't rush through things to get to the end and didn't have time to overstay its welcome. Too few TV shows manage to end at the right time like that.
I enjoyed it more than a few other current franchise-milking series, if truth be told. I felt it wasn't overly ambitious, but delivered more than it promised.

Netflix's The Silent Sea, up to episode 3 at least, is a solid "mystery in space" story. Something has gone wrong five years ago on a Korean moon base, and a team of astronauts has to recover some kind of sample from it; however, authorities refuse to say what it might be. It's rapidly quite obvious to the crew that the "radiation leak" that condemned the base never occurred, and that there is something seriously wrong up there.
Up to now it feels like a good hard SF novel. Too bad I must rely on subtitles, because apart from "hello", I can't speak any Korean! (Shades of Squid Game). I quite like the way Netflix produces series in different countries (probably to avoid paying too much in taxes or something).

Sounds interestng. I just watched a 2010 Korean series a few months back, IRIS - apparently one of the most popular Korean shows ever. It's a kind of spy drama, very entertaining. I'll keep The Silent Sea in mind, and also the Lost in Space remake/reboot.
I'm thinking of trying The Witcher - anyone seen that one? I know nothing about the game or the books, apart from that it's some kind of fantasy story.

I've been hearing alot of bad things about the 2nd season of Witcher... good books though.... First season is reaaly good... if a bit scattered. (understandable based on the fact it was based off short stories.

Season One of The Witcher is very good. It’s complex, requires thinking, and has a wide set of compelling characters and situations.
I’m only 3.5 episodes into Season Two and it is a definite step down. Some of it, it seems, is due to where the story is going, which requires a different pace to the storytelling along with a different style of story to be told, but I’m not as rabidly excited about this season. To wit, I started to doze off in the middle of Episode Four on Christmas Eve afternoon and made no effort in the past nine days to go back and finish it.
I’m not saying it’s bad (like pizza or sex, even though it’s “just OK”, it’s still better than a lot of other things), but that it just hasn’t grabbed me in the same way as Season One.

I've been playing catch up on multiple shows during my time off for the holidays, clearing off the DVR.
my reviews/ratings thus far:
"Watchmen" (yes it was on the DVR for 2 years, finally watched the whole thing): A+ excellent. .and I really wish they would do another season, or at least a spin off with the Tulsa Police (more Pirate Jenny, Red Scare, and Looking Glass please!)
"Little Birds" absolutely gorgeous, but just a terrible, terrible 6 episodes. C , and it only gets that grade because of how stunning the scenery/costuming is in it.
"Motherland: Fort Salem" (season 2) - one of my favorite series on TV, and the best show Freeform has done besides the sadly cancelled "Cloak & Dagger" Incredibly immersive, and never boring. . such a fresh take on an all new idea for a universe. Love it B+
"Dexter: New Blood" (in progress) - if they had to bring Dexter back? this is the way to do it. I do think it's been stretched out a bit too much, and really did not NEED to be 10 episodes. I like what they are doing with Harrison, and loving how we still get Deb every episode. Great casting thruout too. Solid A series, now if they can only stick the ending.
"Superman & Lois" (season 1) - has been on the DVR, and have to clear it out since it's coming back soon for season 2 (along with the new "Naomi" series). Wasn't expecting to like it, and was fully ready to be annoyed with the twins . . . but surprisingly? I've really enjoyed the "core 4" and could really do with MUCH less Lana Lang & Col. Lane. Still. . it's really, really good, and I'm sorry it took me so long to watch it. A

Yeah, I really liked this - even though I thought I would hate it when it was first announced. If you want a TL;DR version of my views on it, you can find it in a post from 2020 at the Atomic Junk Shop. I'll just say here that I disagree about another season: I thought a complete story was told here and I don't really need more. I also had low expectations of this and ended up loving it. I love the focus on the whole family, i.e., Lois, Clark and their twin boys - and yes, they're anything but annoying. In fact, their relationship to each other is one of the strongest aspects of the show. And heck, I don't even mind Lana and her family - I thought they had a really good arc. So yeah, I'm looking forward to more of this.

^ agree with you on Watchmen that it was one story - tho I'd like to see what happens to Sister Night.
*but* that's why I said I want a Spin Off that would focus on the Tulsa Police. (think how Lou Grant spun off from Mary Tyler Moore. . . different show, but featuring character we knew from MTM)

@bert, agree re Dexter. We just knocked off the first three episodes and it is much better than the reviews led me to think it would be. So far so good. They've got Dexter back up on the shark, anyway. Now to see if they can get him back on dry land.
