Moebius, Tardi : both are amazing artists, but although they'd be among my top 100 favourite creators, they're not in the top ten. Moebius (under his real name) would definitely have been when I was a young lad reading Lt. Blueberry, but that was in the '70s. A lot of water flowed under the bridge and other creators bumped him lower and lower on the ladder!
Barks and Pope : I never read anything by these gentlemen, so no.

(...) Paul pope is infamous for x rated content I think. (...) Really? Never heard that before. He did a few things for Vertigo that were a "hard R" but I have never seen his associated with X-rated material, but then he did a lot of pseudo-underground stuff before he did stuff for Vertigo, and I never saw anything he did pre-Vertigo. -M

I liked 100% a lot. This issue of Tangled Web was also very interesting:

Barks Yes. I love those old Scrooge adventure stories (which were one of the influences on the Indiana Jones movies.)
Pope No. His art style leaves me cold.

Don't believe I've ever read anything by Carl Barks or Paul Pope. I'm really not a Disney characters fan at all, so hardly surprising I've never had the inclination to read Barks. I've never even heard of Pope.

Moebius? No. I've liked what little I've read but maybe a top 20 not top 10.
Tardi? No. Never read any of it.
Barks? No. Never been into Disney
Pope? No. His style reminds me of someone, can't put my finger on it. Still a No.

Pope? No. His style reminds me of someone, can't put my finger on it. Still a No. It reminds me of Don Simpson a bit.

Day Four Response and Wrap—Up
I don’t think I had any exposure to Disney comics as a kid. I grew up when comics were literally everywhere, but only remember ‘kid’ comics like Bugs Bunny and Richie Rich before I got into DC books. I was 20 when Gladstone started putting out Disney books and was expanding my horizons at the time. Instantly fell in love Bark’s Duck books. Imho, there are no finer adventure stories in the medium. He’s an easy yes for me.
Have very little exposure to Pope’s work, but like what I’ve seen and have accumulated a few of his books to read soon.
My list so far: Frank Miller Jack Kirby Carl Barks

Day Five Choices It’s Family Friday! Among the comic families we have John Buscema and Sal Buscema, Gilbert Hernandez and Jaime Hernandez, John Romita Sr and John Romita Jr, and the master lineage and teaching of Joe Kubert. Heck, include dark horse candidates like Mario Hernandez or a younger Kubert if you want!

Los Bros Hernandez are definitely there!
I was only a Jaime fan at first... but getting into the Palomar stories made me a die-hard Gilbert fan as well

John Buscema is a yes. Maybe my favorite all time comic artist. John Romita Sr. is a yes. Great covers in the 70's besides his Spider-man work.

Ok, stealing this idea from a Slack group I’m in. It’s probably been done here before? It’s generating a lot of fun discussion there, figured we’d maybe try it here? Rather than everyone just blurt out our top ten, it’s going to be a gradual process where every day or two I’ll give you a creator or five and you have to decide if they go into your top ten. Decide what makes it a top ten individually, no quibbling over whether it’s based on historical importance or personal preference or ‘favorite’ versus ‘best’ or anything else, it’s entirely up to you what ‘top ten’ means. Just know you’re limited to 10 over the course of the experiment so choose wisely. So first up, is Frank Miller in your top ten? What era? Early DD 157-170 yes After that no

I already voted no, but one additional comment. I will never forgive him for this cover on Supergirl Archive 1: It so bothered me, I literally defaced my copy with a "glue job" customization: Wow you really don’t like Miller.

Today I’m coming for some slots. Today we talking kings. The Dream King and… well… just the King of Kings. Today I’m asking if Neil Gaiman or Jack Kirby are on your lists. Kirby is a definite Yes. Especially in my later comic reading years Inlearned to appreciate him more Gaiman is probably just out of the top ten maybe 11
