My main stipulation for bacon is that it be fried to a crisp.

What Americans call Canadian bacon we call back bacon, for reasons Tartanphantom just explained. Everything I learned about Canadian "language", including the term back bacon which I thereafter always used, came from watching Strange Brew in the theater as a kid. Of the brands pictured above is my favorite, Wright Brand bacon. Thick cut, and seasoned/cured to perfection. Seriously, it's a very consistent product flavor-wise. It's also the most expensive of the pictured options, except for maybe the Benton's. I love the thick cut of the Wright Brand but I kept getting too much fat the last times I tried it (over a year ago). Will have to give it another chance!

Just gotta know how to pick it... I suppose it helps that I have cured bacon & ham a couple of times in my life, and I've personally known a butcher or two.

Yeah, the problem is I’ve definitely gotten lazy with just using grocery delivery service. It’s not just bacon/meats, produce is a huge roll of the dice as well.

And it was originally test-marketed in certain areas of the US as far back as the early 1970's-- originally marketed as "Pepsi Light"-- it was not regular Pepsi with Lemon, it was a hybrid drink-- sweetened partially with sugar and partially with saccharine (ugh!). So it wasn't a straight-up diet beverage, but instead a "low calorie" alternative to pure sugar Pepsi. I remember this stuff from my teens. (...) Oh, yeah, I totally remember that - because as a kid, I couldn't stand 'diet' soft drinks (still can't, really) and was miffed that it just wasn't normal lemon-flavored Pepsi (back then it never occurred to me to just squeeze fresh lemon juice into normal Pepsi, or Coke for that matter...).

For many years, I have been a huge advocate of Dr. Pepper with two squeezed lime wedges.... as far as soft drinks go, it will change your life. If you use lemon instead of lime, it's not nearly as good. I've actually converted a few people to this once they tried it. The lime juice balances and de-sweetens the Dr. Pepper a bit, making it much more refreshing and much less syrupy in flavor but doesn't get totally bitter as lemon can sometimes be.
