I'm the same way about music. Anything released after I got out of college in '80 is marked as "new" in my brain.
Cei-U! I summon that hot new band... Van Halen!

It would mean that all the issues are released at that point in "showcase" form.

I'e been buying a ton of stuff as I've been refocusing my collection. Selling off a lot of stuff I no longer want or need, and using the money to buy... Bronze Age Romance.
So many great covers and insane stories. I have a lot coming on the way that looks to be one of the best runs of the Bronze Age, I'll post a photo when they arrive.

This will be coming my way in a few days. It looks AWFUL, doesn't it? Why are Batman and Robin being attacked by Sea Monkeys?

^That does look terrible. I dont like my comics that campy, unfortunately. But I am glad there are those who do Another one coming my way. Ever since listening to the podcast (and hearing other people talk about how good Warlord is), I had to find a copy.

^That does look terrible. I dont like my comics that campy, unfortunately. But I am glad there are those who do I used to defend the Batman alien stories. They aren't ALL terrible. But now that I'm almost done with Detective Comics #301 to #400, I'm getting more and more of the issues from #280 to #300, and there are so many random aliens, weird transformations, dumb sci-fi monsters and so on. I tend to get a kick out of most of them on some level, but it's kind of repetitive, and some of them really are just AWFUL. (I think they had figured out they were over-doing it by #301 to #326. There aren't that many of these kinds of stories, and the more sci-fi influenced stories are quite a bit better than some of the pre-300 stories. I love #324 and #326! The one where they have to dress up as mummies is pretty dumb though.)

Took a trip out to a shop a couple towns over looking for a recent issue I missed, and spent some time digging through their dollar bins and the "collectors' area" where they feature rare and high end stuff for comics, sci-fi and movie memorabilia. They had a bunch of Conan related stuff, including almost all the Gnome editions, the limited edition of Mark Schultz's illustrated edition of the Del Rey book in hardcover, and several other rare Conan editions, plus some other funky stuff. I did pick up one Conan related item while there... issue #5 of the Howard Review fanzine from 1976. It was only a five spot compared to the high end stuff that was there. I also got a pile of dollar books, including the following: Mouseguard: Legends of the Guard Vol. 3 #1-4 Flash Gordon Zeitgeist #8-10 Fate #10, 20 (completes run) Electropolis #1 Elektra Assassin #3 Druid #1, 3 Countdown to Mystery #4 Ghost Rider/Blaze Spirits of Vengeance #16 Ghost Rider (Ketch) #54 Thor #374 Hawkman #0, Annual 1 DC Comics Presents Hawkman #1 Futurians #3 Flash Gordon #1 (Ardden series) American Flagg! #4, 41, 44, 45, 46, 48 (leaving only 1 issue to complete series) Hellstorm #3, 4, 11 P. Craig Russell's Night Music #2 Nick Fury #22, 23 Phantom #3, 4 (King/Dynamite series) Phantom #2-4 (Hermes series) Primal Force 14 (completes series) Spectre 3 -M

I picked up this 1979 collection the other day at a used bookstore. It contains stories from 1952-1974 plus a sampling of the extras that were included in the comics, such as advice columns and quizzes. Lively art by Sekoswsky, Sachs, Jay Scott Pike, Infantino, Romita and other masters of that genre. (This is a stock image, not my actual copy.)

The stranger, more bizarre the better. If I were stranded on a desert island and given the choice of which era of Batman books I could take with me I would choose the later GA/early SA era.

Can not get my phone camera to focus. $1.50 each. ANYWAY, trying to finish off Super-Team Family because I have a bunch of 'em for my team-up book collection - although the Solomon Grundy JSA story was water damaged and REALLY smelly - a couple '80s Secret Origins (including an Ambush Bug story I have never read) and Bucky O' Hare because people here like Bucky 'O Hare.

That JSA Solomon Grundy story is one of my very favorite Golden Age stories. And certainly my favorite JSA story EVER!
