I got these in the mail last week. I showed them off in the Zoom meeting but I figure it's proper to post them here as well. I have 11 of the 13 issues. I was partial to the Rich Buckler launch to this iteration of the Archie Super hero line.

Yesterday my son tipped me off that one of our local shops had bought a collection that included a bunch of silver-age horror mags. I went by today and picked up a few things, including a trio of obscure 60's mags in beautiful condition. Also landed a couple of nice 10-cent issues of Mystery in Space, as well as the first appearance of Mr. E-- for a measly 2 bucks. A few other things thrown in as well.

That is some sweet classic Archie treats you received @crimebuster from your mail person! Really iconic Life With Archie cover and those covers of Betty are very much reflections of the time. We just don't see such style on covers these days. Very cool, keen and hip man. Smoooooth

Got this yesterday. The Mighty Crusaders early 80's run was 13 issues and I now need 2 to complete the run.

From collecting Thor to Image and Mighty Crusaders. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Joking of course my brother Icctrombone as it's nice seeing whatever new personal TREASURES you pursue. The Archie heroes are the odd one's out in a way. Many know of them and there is a curiosity driven need for us to search them out. Sadly, it feels like the Red Circle heroics never quite seem to "connect" with readers even though they keep getting "revamps" in Hope's of becoming bigger.

I bought the first 8 or so when they came out. It was launched with Rich Buckler as the driving force but he left the company within a year and it fell off. The Red circle books had known creators like Ditko, Steranko and Ayers working on the line. I guess you can call them a guilty pleasure.

Actually, the versions from the '80's like ICC's are not too bad, and The Shield, Black Hood and The Hangman were pretty popular during the golden age. The Fly had a pretty good run in the early 60's.
I'd actually take the MLJ heros over Youngblood any day of the week.

I only really liked the Buckler drawn books , he also did Lancelot Strong /The Shield 2. Buckler was savaged for swiping the original drawings from the Kirby books in the 40's by the Comics Journal.

Went out with my younger daughter yesterday to run some errands in the morning and wound up at three different places to buy comics. No floppies, but I did pick up:
Captain America Marvel Masterworks #4 (issues #114 - 124) Yes, I already own all of these issues in floppy. That said, this was 1/2 off (it came from the same collection as the Nick Fury Masterworks I bought last month) and while this may be sacrilege to some around here, I refuse to read my copy of #117. It's at least a 7.0, probably pushing closer to an 8.0, and that puts it in the $800 - $1,000 range. Buying a collected edition that has it, along with 10 other issues, for $27.50 is well worth the protection of not putting my hands on a high-grade key book.
Amazing Spider-Man "Death of Captain Stacy" Epic Collection Been waiting for this for a while, as it bridges the gap between two other Spidey Epics that I own. Just waiting for one more (which should cover issues 124-142), which I expect next year (Punisher's 50th anniversary, which makes it perfect timing), and I will own a copy of every Spidey story from #1 through #400.
Couple of Hellblazer TPBs Picked these up at Half-Price Books for, yes, 1/2 price of cover. Both of them collect Garth Ennis stories, from issues 41 - 46 and issues 62 - 67. Not something I actively seek, but if I can find any of these used, I will grab them in a heartbeat.
Also picked up the last TPB of Fraction/Aja's Hawkeye run (the Clint issues), as I have the other three TPBs in the series and both of my daughters want to read these before the Disney+ show drops in November (we already have our night before Thanksgiving planned).

Yesterday was the third of the quarterly Jim and Dan shows for the year (there's a 4th in December). Next Sunday is our hometown Champion City Comic Con where I'll be setting up as a vendor, so I had a bit of a limited budget going in (less than half what I usually have for one of these shows), so I spent most of the day digging thorough dollar bins. I spent $10 on a hardcover, bought $10 worth of small press stuff from creators, spent $10 on a 3/$10 box full of Gemstone EC reprints, about a half dozen $2 books, and everything else was $1 each. I had spent the previous week updating and organizing my want lists and creating a new con notebook complete with tabs so I can find the list I am looking for (it's divided into sections-Toth want list, Matt Baker want list, Joe Kubert want list, Usagi want list, Groo want list, Scooby Doo want list, Disney Ducks want list, Indy want list, Marvel want list, DC want list, trades/strip collection want list and vintage paperbacks want list), so I was hopeful to avoid doubles and focus on stuff actually on my list. I have a secondary book which just lists the stuff I have for stuff I don't specifically have on my want list but still pick up if I see it cheap (DC and Charlton horror books, red dress covers, etc.). I know there are things on there I will never own due to prices and budgets, but I still wanted the Toth, Baker and Kubert references on hand. I also have them recorded on my GCD account in case anything happens to the notebook. Here's a look at the book... So armed with these, I dove into the boxes yesterday and brought home a passel of stuff. I went heavy on stuff from the Kubert want list, as I ran into a lot of it (no Toth or Baker stuff, not surprising in dollar bins). So here's what I ended up getting... that $10 HC I don't have the treasury edition, don't want to pay the going rate for it, so when one of my con circuit acquaintances, inker Jeff Austin had this in his box o'books for sale I grabbed it along with the latest magazine sized anthology of new stuff he had for sale. Those EC reprints... that completes the Piracy run in Gemstone reprints for me (I also have #1 in the original, the only actual EC I own). I also picked up 3 more Red Dress covers (others I got had red dresses, these were specifically for the red dress). The Archie issue was one of the handful of $2 issues, the others a buck each. more to follow... -M
