These are the 2003 editions with no pricing on the cover. I do have some of the older priced issues as well, but nowhere near a complete set. And yes, you are correct-- there are several price variants over the years.
I just ordered a jumbo pack with all 24

A couple of my bigger purchased came in today, including the one I teased earlier. I know tartanphantom will appreciate these. The fighting women of World War II: That cover to Fight is so amazing. It would make a great poster.

The fighting women of World War II: It seems that the Mlle Marie issues are the only ones the collectors want to buy these days. Don't get my wrong, they're fantastic and there's other great appearances in Star Spangled War Stories but every Heritage auction of that title, those are the only issues that everyone wants to get. Same with eBay listings... in demand.

Continuing my recent acquisitions-- one of my local shops has a pretty good after-Christmas sale every year, and this year was no exception. Back issues (excluding "wall books") were buy-1-get-2-free (equal or lesser value, so if you buy 12 books, you only pay for the 4 most expensive books in the pile), and their dollar boxes were buy-1-get-3-free, which basically made the dollar boxes into good old-fashioned "quarter boxes". Wall books were a flat 30% off.
Altogether, between the back issue bins and the dollar (quarter) boxes, I walked out with an overflowing short box, and still spent under $100 including tax.
These are some of the highlights from the regular back-issue bins, I'll post the "good" quarter box purchases in a separate post.

I have that issue of G.I. Combat. One of a handful of issues I got from garage sales back in the day.

Several personal favourites there for me: Ditko's Shade, the Astonishing Tales, and the Daredevil reprint - I read that same reprint when it came out in 1970 or whenever it was and it's one of the comics that made me a Daredevil fan.

Very nice deals. Wow, your LCS spun some deals for you. I think Hoosier X has his eye on that Lois Lane.

Well, I completed my downgrade. After fees and shipping, I received $1635 for my old copy. After various costs, I paid $870 for my new copy. I basically dropped from a very nice looking 5.5 to a solid 4.0, and made $765 in the process. I'll be using the money to, what else, buy new stuff for my collection. I'm saving up for a good sized key, so we'll see how that goes.
I'll post pictures of both copies once the new one arrives.

The second lot of my recent comics purchases turned up last week. Got a nice couple of Amazing Spider-Man comics (#182 and #183, featuring Rocket Racer ), and some more Steve Englehart era Dr. Strange. The latter are all British price variants, which I kinda like. The purchase I was most pleased about was ASM #195, which is the second appearance of the Black Cat. I got this for under £15 in rather nice condition, which is less than I normally see it go for. I'm still on the look out for that first appearance of Black Cat in ASM #194 at a price that doesn't make my eyes water. Maybe one day...

Is Batman #423 supposed to be worth something?

Is Batman #423 supposed to be worth something? $200-$300 in high grade is where I usually see it. Almost exclusively for the McFarlane cover. -M
